The Indian Premier League retention event concluded today, where teams announced which players they want to retain for the 11th edition of the league.

The IPL Retentions was what everybody was waiting for. Some of the teams had already made it public who they will be retaining.

Some retentions were absolute no-brainers like MS Dhoni by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rohit Sharma by Mumbai Indians (MI) and Virat Kohli by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), etc.

On the other hand, there were some surprise picks too. Here, we look at all the players Retained by their IPL franchisees.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK):

The Chennai based franchise will be coming back in the VIVO IPL after facing a ban for two years. The most awaited team to make a comeback are the CSK.

The Players Retained by them are

1. MS Dhoni
2. Suresh Raina
3. Ravindra Jadeja

Delhi Daredevils (DD):

This team has had an issue of not having senior international players in their side. As a result, they have retained two Indian youngsters and a foreign all-rounder.

The players retained by them are

1. Chris Morris
2. Rishabh Pant
3. Shreyas Iyer

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP):

KXIP has not been successful for most the seasons. One of the main reasons is that no senior player has stayed in this team for long. Their retention reflects the same.

The only player retained by them is

1. Axar Patel

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

The most popular team in all the seasons of the IPL is KKR. They have surprised one and all this season by not retaining their captain and senior player Gautam Gambhir. They have retained only two players, both being all-rounders.

The players retained by them are

1. Sunil Narine
2. Andre Russell

Mumbai Indians (MI):

The defending champions have retained their top 3 players and fortunately for the fans, have not given any surprises. Their retentions were quite expected and correct.

They have retained the in-form Indian players.

The players retained by them are

1. Rohit Sharma
2. Hardik Pandya
3. Jasprit Bumrah

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

The other comeback team, Rajasthan Royals have retained only their captain. How they build the rest of their team will be interesting to watch. They have surprisingly left out Ajinkya Rahane.

The only player retained by them is

1. Steve Smith

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

RCB performed poorly last year despite having many legends in their squad. The dangerous Chris Gayle failed to fire in 2016 and that has shown in the retentions. They have left some stars like KL Rahul and Yuzvendra Chahal. They have surprised everyone with their third retention in youngster Sarfaraz Khan.

The players retained by them are

1. Virat Kohli
2. AB de Villiers
3. Sarfaraz Khan

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

This team has improved a lot in the last two years finishing as the winners and runners-up in 2016 and 2017 respectively. They have not quite surprised with their retentions but the only interesting thing is that they have retained only two players from their successful squad.

The players retained by them are

1. David Warner
2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

With the retentions giving some surprises to the fans, the use of Right To Match cards (RTM) will also bring some surprises.

Every team can retain only 3 capped Indian players. Now the teams have more to think as to use the RTM on which players.
