Antonio Conte blames the Chelsea board for losing out on key targets

“I’ve been rarely given the players asked for”, says a bemused Antonio Conte after the exciting London derby against Arsenal, the first fixture of the new year.

Chelsea’s head coach Antonio Conte had several times put numerous charges against the Chelsea board for providing him with the players that he wants and also losing out on intended targets in that period. The boss has pointed in some of the misconduct on the pitch which wouldn’t  happen if rightful resources were present at his disposal.

As a case, the champions are failing to open up its wings or extracting necessary results in the road to defend their title this season. In the summer, Chelsea was being linked with star targets but a few rang their bell to decide Stamford bridge as their next destination.

At present, the Blues have started monitoring certain players which comes under the coach’s liking radar. One of them is Chile’s midfield dynamo Arturo Vidal who is currently showing his best quality with Bayern Munich. Conte even praised the former Juventus star and the Blues are close to sealing a 50 million deal with for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.

But Antonio is not confident of transfer happenings which will reform the current squad of the Blues. He spoke up on this matter, “I do not aim high with my requests especially as in my history. I’ve rarely given the players i asked for. I always ended up at clubs who were running an austerity programme.”

The Blues boss is certainly not happy with the board’s actions to build up a strong squad capable of winning titles and mourns at certain unacceptable situations. As a true tactician, Conte has pledged to carry on the hard work with his present squad to get points game after game by not mingling at transfer business.

Since Antonio Conte’s fall out with Diego Costa at the beginning of the new campaign, he urged his board to get consistent contributors to his squad who would help him fight for another title. And while he got a striker in Alvaro Morata and a new midfield general in the form of Tiemoue Bakayoko, they still haven’t convinced him because neither of the two were his choices and also less agile according to him.

But frustration further beckoned when the board sold a key member of his title-winning squad in Nemanja Matic to Manchester United. This effect was certainly felt as Chelsea faced inconsistencies this season, something that Antonio Conte predicted beforehand but got no reward at all.

Now, in the winter transfer window, the reigning kings of the league are once again wishing for any possible transfer deal which will help the status improvement of the remaining part of the campaign. But it goes down how the boards react to everything and whether they would be able to meet Conte’s demand at last.

Authors take:

Antonio Conte is right in his judgment. The management needs to step up now and make a deal of a player which the coach thinks would suit his system of play. If Chelsea does bring in what Conte needs to build and strengthen his squad then it undoubtedly benefit both parties because Conte will have someone he needs and build up a better game plan to exaggerate discipline and consistency
