Former La Masia graduate and Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara has reportedly told the Catalan giants that’s he unhappy in Germany and wants to return.
The 26-year-old central midfielder who’s brother Rafinha plays for Barcelona has been a key member of Bayern Munich’s last four Bundesliga title-winning runs. However, now it looks like Thiago Alcantara is unhappy at the club and doesn’t like working under manager Jupp Heynckes, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti early in the season.
While the Spaniard did graduate from La Masia, Barcelona’s famed youth academy alongside his brother, he left in 2013 and parted ways with the Catalan giants amicably. The move proved to be the right one and since then Thiago has grown incredibly well and matured into a brilliant central midfielder. Many critics and fans have even compared the 26-year-old to La Masia graduates, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.
However, while Barcelona certainly looks envious of the Bavarians, it looks like Thiago does want to leave Germany and has informed Barcelona that he wants to leave. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 26-year old’s father, who has further been speaking to Barcelona about a potential move for brother Rafinha, made it crystal clear that the Munich midfielder wants to move back.
While Barcelona does have the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Paulinho, and an aging Andres Iniesta, patrolling their midfield, they do have their fair share of flops. Both Andre Gomes and Arda Turan have failed to make any impact what so ever on the team, despite arriving with a lot of promise and potential.

While Ernesto Valverde certainly has the midfield depth, he doesn’t have the quality and would welcome the dominance that Thiago has over the Bayern Munich midfield. A technically superb player, Thiago has the ability to not only create chances and manipulate space at his will but can also finish them himself.
While it would be a huge surprise if Bayern Munich even entertains offers for Thiago Alcantara, there is a good chance that he might leave the club. However, with Barcelona desperately chasing after Philippe Coutinho, Thiago would be a sensational alternative and they’re not the only ones interested. Real Madrid, Manchester City, and even PSG are very interested in the Spaniard’s services.
