Antonio Conte gives a green signal to Chelsea superstar’s departure?

Antonio Conte has commented on some of the unhappy players in his camp and is afraid it might spread negativity at the club.

2018 has just started and the World Cup bells have already started ringing. The mega-event will take place in Russia and it is every player’s dream to play the World Cup.

David Luiz and Batshuayi Situation:

There are few Unhappy Players at the Stamford Bridge as well, with the desire to play the World Cup. And Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has commented on the current situation of such players. “I was a player. I will understand if someone is worried about the World Cup. I will understand, at the same time it is very important to keep players very happy to stay here to work with us.” Said the manager.

“I prefer to have players happy to stay here than to have players that are unhappy. Because when you are unhappy you transfer this to the other players, to me, to my staff, and I don’t like this.”

The manager’s comments come at the interesting time as the transfer window has opened and there are a few players eager to leave the Blues for regular playing time. David Luiz has been sidelined after falling out with the manager in October. The Brazilian has made just 8 appearances in the league so far. The defender has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona and is eager to switch clubs in a bid grab the ticket to Russia.

Michy Batshuayi is another player who has fallen down the pecking order at the Champions’ home after starting just 2 league games this season. The Belgian’s chances of making it to the World Cup squad are very slim as the 5th ranked team boasts the attackers like Lukaku and Dries Mertens. But the striker still wants to leave Chelsea for a loan move in order to secure a place in the national side.

New-faces at the Stamford Bridge?

Antonio Conte was a part of Italian national team in 1994 World Cup which lost to Brazil in the final, only on penalties. Although the manager is ready to let the unhappy players leave, he will only allow the transfer if he finds the replacements in time.

“I understand if a player isn’t playing with regularity and wants to play with regularity. All the players we have in our squad, we want to continue here because our squad is not big. It is impossible to sell or loan a player if we don’t sign another player.” Said the Italian.

Chelsea sits 3rd in the table, but with a game against Arsenal in hand, the Blues can replace Manchester United for the second spot.

Author’s take:

This is a great way to handle the David Luiz situation. It will be great to see David Luiz playing for Chelsea or any other club so that he can secure a place for the World Cup. After all, he was one of the stars of Brazil’s 2014 campaign. But the case is not the same for Batshuayi as there no other backup striker in the Chelsea squad.
