India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar talked about India’s plans for the first Test against South Africa, saying India are well prepared.
There are only 3 days to go for the start of the much-awaited Test series against South Africa. India have started their practice on practice pitches.
However, they had to train indoors as there was rain today. India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar inspected the ground after the rain stopped.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a chat with the reporters in the Western Province Cricket Club. He said, “We would love to bowl in these conditions. We cannot say what kind of wicket we will get in the match.
But we know the general conditions in South Africa, so we are preparing according to that. We just want to prepare our best, that’s all we want.”
He was asked about the practice the team did after cancelling the practice matches. “We did two sessions just to get into the groove of the Test match. You play a six-hour (each day) Test match. We just wanted to bowl as long as possible to get into that mode. We didn’t do anything different, we wanted to go through our basics,” he said.

On the difference in conditions in India, Bhuvneshwar said, “The first thing that changes (from India) is the bounce, I won’t say it swings in South Africa. It doesn’t swing much, but the bounce is something every fast bowler enjoys. That’s something we really wanted to practice. We wanted to cover all the basic things.
Whenever there is extra bounce, where to bowl, what field we can have to get them out — these are the little things we wanted to do in the practice session.”
India still have two more days to practice before the match. On the practice India is going to do in this time, he stated, “Maybe a couple of days before the Test match, we will see how we can go into the Test match, or what are the things we can bring into the Test match regarding strategies, their batsmen. Right now, we are trying to do our basic things.”
Indian team is looking ready to give South Africa a tough time in their home. Who will make it to the XI is a question to be answered.
But whoever gets the nod into the team will give their best to perform in an overseas Test.
