Liverpool target Real Madrid youngster as Philippe Coutinho’s time at Anfield comes to an end, with Barcelona pushing for a move.
The Brazilian international has been courted by a desperate Barcelona, ever since Neymar decided to wear the blues of PSG over at the Parc des Princes. With Liverpool putting their foot down over not selling Philippe Coutinho, the Catalans had to settle for Paulinho and bringing in Ousmane Dembele. However, now it looks like Coutinho’s move to Barcelona may be inevitable and thus Liverpool has targeted Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos as his replacement.
According to reports from the Express, Mirror and even Metro, the Camp Nou club made at least three bids for the Brazilian playmaker during the summer transfer window, ranging from £80 million to a £115 million(plus £40 million in add-ons), all of which were denied by Liverpool. However, with various rumors running around the world, the Guardian has reported that the Liverpool will demand at least £130 million for their attacking playmaker and that Barcelona is ready to pay.
And with that, it looks like Coutinho’s move to Barcelona is close to fruition, which means the Reds need to target and bring in a replacement. The Brazilian has been a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking quartet, and has even gone on to contribute to 7 goals and produced a further 7 assists in just 14 Premier League appearances this season.
While replacing those numbers will be tough, Liverpool has targeted Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos as a potential replacement. The 21-year-old arrived at Real Madrid from Real Betis during the summer, and despite a flying start with two goals on his debut, Ceballos has plateaued out making only 13 appearances since, with most of them coming off the bench.

According to reports from multiple sources, including Dario Gol and Marca, Dani Ceballos has fallen out favor with Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and wants to leave the club. It further adds, that the likes of Roma, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and even Arsenal are all interested in his services, which means Liverpool will have a battle on their hands.
Replacing Philippe Coutinho will be very tough for Liverpool, whether they bring in Dani Ceballos or even Leon Goretzka as replacements. The Brazilian has been a key part of the team, and under Jurgen Klopp, he has flourished and made the Liverpool front line a force to be reckoned with.
However, Ceballos would be an ideal replacement and while it would take him time to adjust, the Spaniard has the talent to do well under Klopp.
