Former Chelsea assistant manager, Ray Wilkins believes that signing Paulo Dybala is the key to close the gap between the Manchester clubs.
The Argentine national has been linked with Manchester United for a mega-money signing worth £155 million. The Argentine is a force to be reckoned with and with his new No. 10 shirt, the former Palermo star has a long future but despite that Paulo Dybala has recently admitted that he might not stay with Juventus for the rest of his career.
Wilkins admitted that Dybala would be the perfect signing for The Red Devils if they manage to get him. In an interview with Sporting Bet, he said: “If United sign him, good grief City will have to watch out, He’s one of those skillful South American players that will light up the Premier League.”
He further stated that“If I was a head of scouting for a top-six club, I would tell them to go to South America to scout small, skillful center-forwards because these guys are becoming world-class players – like Dybala. He’s a magical footballer, works hard on and off the pitch and would be a credit to the Premier League.”
The recently turned 24-year-old has lit this season up with 12 goals and 3 assists in just 12 starts and has been doing brilliantly for the Turin club since his move from Palermo. However, his form and talent mean that he is being headhunted at the moment by several European clubs, making him one of the hottest prospects in the football world.
Paulo Dybala was ranked 15th in the recently concluded Ballon d’Or awards ceremony, but that won’t stop the forward from achieving his goal of one day winning the coveted trophy. But for Manchester United, the Juventus star has also been spotted spending quality time with former teammate and Manchester United star Paul Pogba over social media.
Manchester United don’t have happy memories when it comes to South American attackers. Names such as Diego Forlan and Radamel Falcao come to mind who didn’t have successful stints at Old Trafford. But, it can be safely said that Paulo Dybala is one of a kind and would be a massive asset for any club, let alone Manchester United. With Lukaku misfiring and Zlatan slowly winding off, the 24-year-old would be the perfect person to lead the line.
He can often drop back as well since Mata is slowly losing his touch and Dybala being versatile as he is, could be a perfect addition to Jose Mourinho’s side.
