Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly makes startling claim about Blue’s star

Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly thinks that the Blues can manage without star Eden Hazard if he leaves the club.

The Belgian magician, Eden Hazard is Chelsea’s main man without any doubt. Even with the likes of Morata and Fabregas in the team, Hazard is the most important piece in Conte’s set-up. The winger has been instrumental in Chelsea’s two premier league titles in last three years and it comes as no surprise that he is one of the most wanted man in Europe.

But the 12-time European Champions Real Madrid have made him the top target to replace out of favor Bale. (Or a Long term replacement for Ronaldo, you decide!) The rumors have been flying around for a long time now and Hazard has not completely denied them either.

Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly Thinks the Blues can replace the winger if he decides to leave Chelsea and no one is bigger than the club.“We are still in the season, no player is more important than the club,” he said while talking to Goal.comEven when Drogba left, one of the great players, the spirit of the club continued. They continued to win.”

“We will be sad if Hazard has to go but I am sure that Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the club. He will bring in another player that can allow the club to be at the same level again.”

World Cup winner with France, Desailly is also worried about Chelsea’s form this season. The defender wants Conte’s men to recover their form before Chelsea’s crunch tie against Barcelona in Europe. He further added “Chelsea lost to West Ham recently so the side is not in the best shape. They need to use the league to psychologically recover from this defeat and be in good shape come February when the Champions League starts [again].”

Chelsea did come back from their defeat against West Ham. The Blues won their midweek game against Huddersfield where Hazard gave his Man of the Match award to Willian. The Brazilian scored one and assisted two in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory. The current EPL champions are 3rd in the league and 11 points behind leaders Manchester City, having played their midweek game before City.

Author’s Take:

Of course, no player is bigger than the club, but a player like Eden Hazard will be very difficult to replace, especially in this transfer market. The Blues will have to move on and find the replacement but it might shake things up at the Stamford Bridge. However, all this talk only makes sense if the 26-year-old actually moves to Madrid, and you know our transfer market: Do not trust anything you hear until its official.
