The Red devils have more disturbing news than derby loss as Ivorian international Eric Bailly is set to miss out the rest of the year action due to groin problem.
Bailly sustained the injury after 1-0 loss to Chelsea in November and did not featured over a month. Now the Sun reports that he will not be available till the month of January in the new year. It is also said that his injury is really a serious one and needs observation. Jose Mourinho is already scratching his head with defensive vulnerability and this news come as a blow.

The Ivorian was expected to return in the home fixture against Brighton but Bailly’s condition forced him to sit on the bench alongside defense partner Phil Jones. Though, Jones appeared among the substitute names for Manchester derby, Bailly’s expected return was extended. Jose feels a crisis at the moment with his United now eleven points adrift against their City rivals and in middle of fixture congestion in the December.
Manchester United have a lot of options to reorganize their defense with Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof becoming the ultimate choice in the absence of Bailey and Jones. Also they have Daley Blind who haven’t featured since October in the premier league. Even though, Bailly’s absence is hard to fill up. The defender, brought from Villarreal in 2015, is an integral member of the squad and it is left to see how United builds up without him in a race to catch league toppers Manchester City.
With him in the defense, United breathes extra oxygen in avoiding blows to the back line. Bailly is a strong character who display his physicality in cutting down runs of forwards, making vital interception and engaging himself as a solid blocker. In all angles, the 23 year old fulfills the duties initiated to a true defender. Having him in the back four gives confidence boost and increases efficiency.
Obliviously, he’s a big miss. Bailly’s dominance helped a lot for United to gain full points in certain venues with him throwing his body in front of shots taken to save his club from dejection.
United are a worried figure without him to help Mourinho’s defensive scrutiny but there is no place to cry for spilt milk as they must carry forward with their available options otherwise the title would be thrown to the league leaders, City.
