City star defender John Stones suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-0 Leicester City. Pep Guardiola has confirmed the extent of his injury and it isn’t looking good.
The Citizens continued their excellent start to the season with another victory in the Premier League, away to Leicester City. Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne ensured that Pep Guardiola’s side continue their brilliant start to the season.
However, the one point of regret in the victory was the injury to one of City’s most influential players, John Stones. The young English defender suffered a hamstring injury that is likely to keep him out of the team for the rest of 2017. Guardiola spoke about how long the defender will be out and how his team will be affected while speaking to the press after the game.
Guardiola says John Stones will be out for between 4 to 6 weeks with his hamstring injury.

We are going to miss him for a long time says Pep Guardiola
Stones was substituted midway through the first half after he pulled up clutching his leg. The 23-year-old has cemented his place in the City team and for England as well, with some prominent displays from the back so far this season.
Speaking of his injury, Pep said,”John Stones, we are going to miss him for a long time, maybe six weeks off”.
The former Barcelona manager pointed out that Stones’ contributions for England, during the international break, were a key factor in his unfortunate injury.
Speaking about the impact of those England games, Pep said,”He was in a good, good condition. He was perfect leading the back four and has the personality to play not only with the ball but also without it.But that has happened with this amazing FIFA and UEFA calendar – at the end the players go down.”
Pep further spoke about the stresses of playing full 90 minutes during the break as well as the importance of his rotation policy.”You play 90 minutes, 90 minutes, 90 minutes and then go to your international team and play two 90 minutes that don’t count for anything in terms of points. At the end, these kind of things happen. That’s why I will rotate the team because, if not, many players will go out”, said Pep Guardiola.
With City facing a packed schedule in the coming month, Pep will need to think about how his side will cope without a key defender at the back. The return of Vincent Kompany will be a welcome sight for the Spaniard, who will need all the players he can get, to endure this difficult period of the season.
