After the recent disappointing 0-0 draw against Real Madrid, Diego Simeone has hinted at an exit for star Frenchman Antoine Griezmann.
The Madrid derby failed to live up to all its hype as both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have put the reigns of the title race back into Barcelona’s hands. A 0-0 scoreline means that Barcelona are now 10 points clear at the top. There were few moments to point out from the game, including Diego Simeone’s decision to take Griezmann off the pitch.
This was the second consecutive game that Simeone has chosen to substitute the Frenchman, his decision was met with boos from the Atletico fans. Following the game, Simeone has hinted that the Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona target could leave the club.

Diego Simeone speaks of his values
Speaking to the media after the game, Simeone spoke about his values and that Griezmann needs to be supported in these difficult times. The French forward has been in poor form so far this season for Atletico.
Simeone said,”In my house, I was taught that while someone is part of the family you stand up for them until the death”.

Griezmann has scored only two goals in ten appearances so far this season.
Simeone further said,”You support people to the death until the day that they are no longer part of your family”. Atletico fans will feel that Griezmann’s departure is now closer than ever after Simeone’s cryptic comments.
The Argentine boss will support Griezmann until he is a ‘part of the family’, however, he could soon be on his way with Barcelona having joined the race for him. The Frenchman would cost 200million pounds in January and his cost would be halved by summertime when Jose Mourinho is expected to make another bid for him.
Atletico midfielder Saul Niguez further extended his support to Griezmann and said,”People have to back him. Greizman is our most decisive player and we have to support him always”.
Author’s take
There seems to be an air of inevitability about Griezmann’s departure and given that Atletico seem to have no chance of winning the league this season, it is likely that Griezmann will leave the Wanda Metropolitano outfit.
