“My emotions have been all over the place”-Drinkwater on his move to Chelsea

On the deadline day, Chelsea secured the signing of the Leicester City midfielder, Danny Drinkwater.

As suggested by the sources, Chelsea have paid in the region of £35million for Drinkwater, who made 217 appearances for Leicester after joining from Manchester United in 2012.

Drinkwater was instrumental in Leicester City’s Premier league triumph in 2016 and now he has joined Chelsea on a 5-year-deal.

The new man in the blues dressing room looks optimistic and is now aiming to “kick on” and win more trophies with Chelsea.

“My emotions have been all over the place,” he said. “There has been frustration, excitement, I have been nervous and I am just grateful the transfer is done.”

“Leicester has been great for me but I am looking to carry on from the season before last when we won the Premier League there and I want to win more trophies, which Leicester have understood and where better to do it than Chelsea?

“I am at a good age now to kick on. I have gained a lot of experience in playing games and hopefully, that will show.

“My emotions have been all over the place,” he said. “There has been frustration, excitement, I have been nervous and I am just grateful the transfer is done.”

“Hopefully I will get a good reception but I am a Chelsea player now so will be looking for three points,” he said.”

Drinkwater’s move was finalised after two hours of Thursday’s 11 pm deadline had passed.

Chelsea had already missed out on plenty of their transfer targets to their rivals and received a lot of stick from their fans for it. But now, having signed Drinkwater, it looks like Chelsea have finally filled the void left by the departure of Matic to Manchester United.

Discussion:

The latest gossip around Chelsea fans at this moment is about Diego Costa. The so called wantaway was included in Chelsea 25-man squad and have raised a lot of eyebrows & hopes of Chelsea fans.

Costa was one of the key players last season who helped Chelsea win the League. Having been included in the squad, fans are hopeful of watching him play at Stamford bridge again. Though considering the history of the player with the manager, it seems very unlikely that he’ll play for the blues again. But still, it is worth discussing.

Do you think Costa will play for Chelsea any time in future? Let us know through the comments section.
