Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku finally reacted to the potential return of Red Devils 2016-18 top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He insisted that he’s happy and Reds need his personality in the locker room.
Lukaku inherited Ibrahimovic’s number nine shirt after he completed his summer transfer from Everton before Ibrahimovic received the number 10 formerly worn by Wayne Rooney.
LUKAKU HAPPY WITH ZLATAN’S RETURN
After scoring a hat-trick for Belgium in their 9-0 World Cup qualifying win over Gibraltar in Liege, the Belgian International told the reporters that, “I already knew for a while that Zlatan would sign but I didn’t tell anyone.”
“I’m happy. We need his personality.”
“I think Zlatan will bring us a lot. I think he has one mission, and that is to win the Premier League, and we’re going to help him reach his goal,’ Lukaku added.
JOSE MOURINHO SELECTION DILEMMA?
Jose Mourinho does not expect Ibrahimovic to be available until January. The Big Swede was top scorer of the Red Devils last year, scoring 28 goals. The Portuguese manager spoke at length about the possibility of him and Lukaku playing together last week.
‘Zlatan knows me,’ Mourinho told the Manchester Evening News, ‘and he knows that I play the players that I think are the best for the team. I always did it.
“I see Zlatan as important for the team. I just say that my squad is better for sure, he is one more option, he is one more striker, he is one more experienced player, he is one more player that can play nine or 10, that can play double strikers or no, there are lots of matches to play.
“If we progress in the Champions League and if we progress in one of the cups, I don’t even say both, if we do that we are going to be in the position where we couldn’t do it only with Lukaku and Rashford, especially if I play both together, because if I play one and the other one is on the bench, okay, but I am playing with both?
“We know well and he is one of the best strikers in the world so the only consequence of it is we are going to have a much better squad?”

AUTHOR’S TAKE :
With Zlatan’s potential return to Manchester United squad just around January, the Belgian forward can face competition for the starting point. However, Lukukau was happy for the big Swede re-signing for the Reds. It is all in the future who’ll be in the starting eleven when Ibra returns.
