Richard’s Picks for Sportito GW6 – Premier League

In this guest article, Richard Kenny talks us through his team for this weekends #FPLCommunity contest. Richard takes a moneyball aproach to FPL and writes excellent articles on the subject. Follow him on Twitter @InfernoSix.

In GW5 I managed to finish 2nd in @FPLGeneral’s #FPL Community ‘Super Sunday’ contest on Sportito and collected a tidy £45. Can I use the same logic to repeat the success in GW6?

The basic rule I used was to maximise players from teams who were playing at home. Then to pick players from the better teams in the League e.g. Arsenal, Chelsea, United, City, Spurs etc.  An ideal pick was someone who satisfied both rules. Finally, to pick a few ‘differentials’ to create a point of difference from other managers teams.

For GW6 I have decided to select players from the home teams in the following fixtures:

MCI vs CPL          ARS vs WBA        BUR vs HUD

BHA vs NEW       WHU vs TOT

My team for this weekend’s #FPLCommunity contest:

Goalkeeper

Pope: Burnley has a good fixture at home to Huddersfield. He has played well since replacing Heaton.

Defenders

K Walker: Attacking wingbacks seem to be the way to go this season. Walker is one of the best, in one of the best teams, with a great home fixture to the worst team in the league.

Kolasinac: Another attacking wingback. He has been outstanding since joining the league. Arsenal has a good home fixture to West Brom. I expect a clean sheet and possibly some attacking returns.

Mendy: Double up on the City defence with the other wingback.

Midfielders

Brady: Second Burnley player. Has 2 assists and created 10 chances in last 4 games. He is on set pieces and is a bit of a differential.

Silva: Is arguably Man City’s form midfielder. He is likely to play 90mins as so far this season he has played 90mins in all but one game.

Ramsey: Second Arsenal player.  My perception is that he is currently their best midfielder.

Gross: Brighton has a good fixture at home to Newcastle. He is in form with two goals and two assists in the last two games.

Aguero: Fourth and last City player. Bang in form and I expect good returns. Another reason to own him is that he is likely to be highly owned by other managers.

Sanchez: Unusually, he can be considered a differential, is Arsenals’ best player and I think he could be on the way back.

Kane: The only player to have an away fixture. However, Spurs away from Wembley can be considered an advantage. Although, the Olympic stadium is probably more like Wembley than any other stadium! This pick could be considered a risky one, but his stats are outstanding. He is not in my FPL team because of his price, but there are no budget limitations in Sportito, so he is in this team.
