Arsenal defender William Saliba is the talk of the town after his incredible debut performance on the opening day of the new Premier League season, and Gooners are having a field day on Twitter after Virgil van Dijk’s error against Fulham yesterday.
The Gunners signed Saliba from Saint-Etienne three years ago, but he never even got close to playing in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta was adamant that he wasn’t ready for the last two seasons, and he was sent out on loan as a result.
Following his return to pre-season this summer, Arteta changed his mind. The Spaniard fully trusts Saliba now, and his faith was repaid with a truly magnificent performance against Crystal Palace on the opening day.
