Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus starred for Arsenal as the Gunners beat Orlando City 3-1 in Florida last night.

Mikel Arteta’s men were made to work hard by the hosts in the first half. Gabriel Martinelli put us in front very early in the game, but poor defending gave Orlando a way back into the game.

Things, however, were completely different in the second half after Jesus came on. The Brazilian didn’t score this time, but he set up Nketiah for his goal, which helped us pick up an impressive win.

Nketiah and Jesus showed some real promise together against FC Nurnberg earlier this month. The pair linked up really well, and the prospect of seeing them lead our line alongside each other really was exciting.

Arteta decided to start Nketiah last night, but Jesus had to wait for his chance. The Brazilian was brought on at half-time, and he instantly made us more dangerous than we were in the entire first half.

Jesus got close to scoring on a few occasions, but he couldn’t find the back of the net. However, his sharpness to go for a ball inside the box laid it on a plate for Nketiah, who scored to give us the lead.

Arsenal fans’ wait came to an end last night as both Nketiah and Jesus displayed their trademark celebration together. The Englishman posted two brilliant tweets about the same after the game.

The Insider’s View:

Nobody really expected Jesus and Nketiah to play together in a two-striker formation next season, but that looks like a very exciting option now.

The Englishman has looked like a completely different player in pre-season. His new contract seems to have given him a big boost, and his performances have been fantastic.

Jesus, on the other hand, is a proven commodity. Everybody knows how good he is, and it is almost a guarantee that he will start up top when Arsenal face Crystal Palace on the opening day of the new season.

Arteta hasn’t really started a competitive game with two strikers up top. However, if Nketiah and Jesus continue to play as well as they have done, the Arsenal boss may be forced to play them together from the start more often.
