Arsenal could start next season with seven Brazilians in the squad

The transfer window officially opened five days ago, and Arsenal have surprisingly been linked with multiple players of the same nationality – Brazil.

Edu Gaspar’s presence as our technical director certainly gives us an edge in potential transfer negotiations, and we’re set to take full advantage of those connections this summer.

Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign at least one new striker, if not two, a wide player and a central midfielder before the window shuts in two-and-a-half months’ time. We’ve been linked with a Brazilian in every single one of those positions.

Arsenal already have two Gabriels in our Squad – Martinelli and Magalhaes. They’ve both been fantastic for us, and they’ll play an integral part next season and beyond.

Our newest addition is young Marquinhos. The teenager joined us from Sao Paulo earlier this month and he’s the third Brazilian in our squad now.

He is expected to go out on loan, but if he impresses Mikel Arteta in pre-season, he could well be kept around the squad and given opportunities in the Europa League next season.

Apart from the above three, Arsenal have been linked with four more players from the land of the Canarinho.

Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus is one of them, and the striker is reportedly Arteta and Edu’s top target this summer. He will enter the final year of his contract at the Etihad soon, and he’s almost guaranteed to leave them in the coming weeks.

Richarlison of Everton is another one linked with a move to the Emirates. The former Watford man is all set to leave Goodison Park this summer, and his work rate really matches what Arteta looks for in a player.

The surprising name that came out of the rumour mill recently was Raphinha.

Multiple outlets have claimed that the Gunners are interested in signing the Leeds United man, who is also almost guaranteed to leave Elland Road before the transfer window shuts.

Coming down to central midfield, Youri Tielemans is Arsenal’s top target. However, if a move for the Belgian cannot be completed, rumours have led us to believe that Juventus’s Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo could be the one.

It has been claimed that a ‘dialogue is already underway‘ between the two clubs over a potential deal.
