Arsenal have offered Paris Saint-Germain a chance to sign Nicolas Pepe as the club is ready to sell the Ivorian, but what other sides could sign the winger Mikel Arteta has lost patience in?

The Gunners broke the bank to bring Pepe to the Emirates Stadium under Unai Emery in the summer of 2019. Arsenal chiefs agreed a club-record £72m transfer with LOSC Lille after he enjoyed a 22-goal, 11-assist Ligue 1 campaign. But nine of his strikes came from the penalty spot.

Arsenal believed Pepe merited the fee nonetheless and gave the deal the green light as Lille allowed payment to be made in instalments. The club only handed over £20m as an upfront fee, with the remaining £52m spread over the course of his five-year £140k-a-week, contract.

Arsenal offer Pepe to Paris Saint-Germain with Arteta ready to sell flop

But Pepe may not see out his Arsenal contract as Arteta is now ready to sell the forward in the summer. Foot Mercato report the Spaniard has lost patience in the 26-year-old coming good in north London, having only started five of his 20 Premier League outings this season.

The 28-cap international additionally only scored once and created two goals across his top-flight appearances this term. His two assists also came in the fourth and final matches of the season, while netting his sole effort in game 20 of the campaign from the bench against Wolves.

Pepe is now on 16 goals and nine assists from 80 career Premier League appearances across his three seasons. The attacker had struck 10 of his efforts from 29 games last season, which ultimately proved to be a red herring for his future. He has also only started 43 games to date.

Arsenal are now ready to cut the club’s loses on Pepe and sell the forward, and have offered him to Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 giants are in the market for a new wide option in the summer after letting Angel Di Maria leave. But PSG are prioritising a deal for Ousmane Dembele.

Pepe is also ready to leave the Emirates after only three years, according to football.london. The Ivorian is eager to secure a new club and recently changed agents, whom he instructed to sound out potential destinations. He will assess all of his possible options over the summer.

Should Les Parisiens opt against accepting the Gunners proposal, technical director Edu will need to find an alternative suitor. So, with that in mind, here are five potential alternative landing spots for Pepe this summer, as Arsenal strive to sell the forward following his struggles…

Sevilla could serve as Paris Saint-Germain alternative as Arsenal ready to sell Pepe

Sevilla could serve as an alternative to Paris Saint-Germain for Pepe this summer as Arsenal strive to sell the forward. That’s because Super Deporte report Los Nervionenses contacted the Gunners to discuss the 26-year-old’s availability as they bid to build a more rounded side.

Sporting director Monchi will only target Pepe if he deems the Gunners’ asking price to be reasonable. He could also explore using Lucas Ocampos as a makeweight in any deal, given Arteta has previously shown an interest in the 27-year-old who scored six La Liga goals this season.

Although Arsenal are unlikely to set a high price bracket to part with Pepe in the off-season sales. Charles Watts has reported the Gunners may even accept just £20m to get him off the books. But Edu is likely to strive to secure at least £25m during any potential negotiations.

Pepe could stay in Premier League and in London with West Ham interested

Pepe could also stay in the Premier League and in London, as the Express report West Ham United are interested. David Moyes is keen to make the Hammers consistent challengers for the Premier League’s European spots after reaching the Europa League semi-finals this term.

Jarrod Bowen played an instrumental role in the Irons progressing in the UEFA tournament and also competing in the top-flight. The 25-year-old ended the campaign with 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions from 51 games. No West Ham player scored or created more.

Moyes could now look at Pepe’s Emirates Stadium plight as a cheap avenue to offer Bowen some support next season. Andriy Yarmolenko has provided depth as a natural right-sided option, but West Ham have announced they are now releasing the Ukraine international.

Newcastle could provide Pepe with a Premier League escape route

Newcastle could also provide Pepe with a Premier League escape route, as they strive to use their Saudi-backed resources to move up the table. The Toon ended the season in 11th after Eddie Howe led the St James’ Park natives clear of the relegation fight they faced before his arrival.

Pepe can aid the Magpies’ efforts to now become a threat for the European places and join with a point to prove in England. Newcastle have not qualified for a UEFA competition since entering the Europa League in 2012/13 after a fifth-place finish in the 2011/12 league term.

The fifth-place result also remains Newcastle’s best Premier League finish since the 2003/04 campaign. They have also only enjoyed top-half results twice since with 10th in 2013/14 and ‘17/18.

Pepe return could intrigue Lille after disappointing 2021/22 campaign

Pepe left Lille on the back of finishing second in Ligue 1, which they followed up with fourth in 2019/20 and then the title in 2020/21. But the 2021/22 campaign proved disappointing as Les Dogues failed to defend their French top-flight crown in shambolic fashion in just 10th-place.

The Stade Pierre-Mauroy natives won just 14 of their 38 matches, drew 13 and lost 11. They also only scored 48 goals – the 13th-best return – and conceded 48 – the eight-worst record.

So, if the terms are reasonable, given Arsenal still owe Lille part of the club-record £72m fee, a return to northern France could be possible for Pepe. He shone during his previous time at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, and could be the spark that returns Les Dogues to the top in 2023.

AC Milan can make Pepe one of several star signings following imminent takeover

AC Milan can make Pepe one of their several likely star signings this summer with the Serie A champions about to be taken over. The Liverpool Echo report RedBird Capital Partners are closing in on a deal to purchase the Rossoneri, with a valuation of at least €1.3bn (£1.1bn).

The San Siro side should prove to be an attractive destination after their Scudetto success this season. AC Milan edged rivals Inter to the title by just two points. But Stefano Pioli will know he needs reinforcements, having had the fourth-best offence with 69 goals scored.

Pioli and AC Milan will also been keen to strengthen to improve their chances in Europe in 2022/23. The Rossoneri crashed out of the Champions League this season in the group stage after losing four of their six ties. They also only won once with a 1-0 result at Atletico Madrid.
