Is it time for Arsenal to find a new number 1 goalkeeper?
Everyone knows Petr Cech is extremely successful in his football career. He’s won it all! The Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, he’s almost had the perfect career. He signed for The Gunners quite late in his career after he was replaced by young keeper Thibaut Courtouis. Arsenal fans were buzzing to see Arsene Wenger signing a much more experienced player as he’s not known for that. He’s been at Arsenal for 3 years now and has won records, trophies and saved Arsenal from a crisis a lot of times! But it is quite clear to see the veteran isn’t quite the man between the sticks he was years back. Surprisingly he has NEVER saved a penalty for Arsenal! So is it time for Arsenal to move on and give youngster Matt Macey some game time after impressing in Europa League and League Cup games? Let us know what you think by tweeting us @ArsenalInsider!
Mesut Ozil is the man again!
Look away critics! Mesut Ozil saves Arsenal once more after him and summer signing Alexandre Lacazette linked up to put Ozil one on one with Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet, the German applied his signature move kicking the ball onto the ground for it to bounce over Mignolet. It was absolutely, world class from Ozil. He performed brilliantly last night against Liverpool, long balls, through balls, short passes, he is back to his best and Arsenal fans love it. Ozil was the savior the for The Gunners last week as well when he blasted the ball past Newcastle keeper Rob Elliot on the volley for what could be one of the goals of the season. With rumors of Ozil signing a new contract, many Arsenal fans want Arsene Wenger to build a team around Mesut. But Arsene Wenger has admitted that his main priority is going to be trying to keep the German in North London.
Wenger admits the players need to step it up.
Despite making an astonishing comeback, Arsene Wenger has admitted that the team performance was not good enough and something must and will be changed. Wenger quoted; “What we did was not good enough, we had nothing to lose, we wanted to go for it.” One of the positives Wenger gave was he was proud of the way Arsenal fought back, he quoted; ” But at half-time we were only 1-0 down, it could have been game over. We showed quality and character in the second half. We played inhibited in the first half.” Do you think Wenger needs to change the defence? Formation? Midfield?
