Alexis Sanchez has, according to reports, opened the door for a possible move to Chelsea. Sanchez has insisted that he is perfectly happy living in London but wants to be with a team that are winning things and has a winning mentality. Arsenal have slapped a price tag of £50m on the want away Chilean. You feel if the club did sell Sanchez to Chelsea that there would be uproar from the fans. But then when did the club listen or care what the fans think.
According to the Mail, manager Arsene Wenger has told the Arsenal board that he wants to sign a two-year contract. It seems Wenger informed the Arsenal hierarchy last week if his decision.
With most reports believing Wenger will sign a one-year deal, it seems that most of the press are guessing as to what Wenger’s next steps will be.
The Express feels Wenger will stay and will help to build the structure to replace himself when he does finally decide to leave.
Robert Pires has spoken of his understanding that Wenger will sign a one-year deal soon.
No one knows but what looks definite is Arsene Wenger is staying put.
Not a surprise that Arsenal are interested in Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham. The 16-year-old has been in sensational form scoring six goals from 25 appearances playing in defence. The youngster, however, has been urged to stay at Fulham for the time being.
Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali has expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of ex-Arsenal and Nigerian star Kanu and become a first-team regular at the club. Nwakali, currently on loan at Dutch second division side MVV Maastricht has scored one goal in his 22 appearances. Nwakali joined Arsenal in 2016 after impressing at the U20’s World Cup with Nigeria.
Gabriel Barbosa could make a move to the club in the summer after failing to command a first team slot at Inter Milan this season.
Barbosa has played in eight games this season, scoring one goal. The 20-year-old signed from Santos last year for £26m but it remains to be seen if Inter would be willing to sell their young striker.
Transfer merry go round
The Express feel that a likely transfer for Alexis Sanchez would be to German giants Bayern Munich, this, in turn, would see Bayern sell winger Douglas Costa to Real Madrid, with Madrid then selling striker Karim Benzema to Arsenal. Phew glad I managed to work all that out.
