Apparently it’s all in the hand shake and that’s exactly what we got at the open training session yesterday at Arsenal training ground today. With all eyes on Sanchez and Wenger, amid the rumours of a training ground bust up, Sanchez was pictured shaking Wenger’s hand ahead of training. Interesting, not sure what we were all expecting or maybe even wanted to see. Jousting on horse back, a quick fire duel, slapping each other with a wet fish or maybe a long lingering hug? A hand shake is fine with me.
Wenger press conference
It was an interesting press conference from Arsene Wenger, who, as expected, played down any issues with Alexis Sanchez and his team mates, claiming the reports were false. He also added that Arsenal will decide the fate on if Sanchez stays or leaves, not the player, with 15 months left on his contract. Wenger also took captain Per Mertesaker into the lions den of the press conference. There was a comedy moment was when Mertesaker was asked, “From the player’s perspective, is everyone behind him and do they want him to be the manager of this football club next season?”
A serious question and fairly straight forward one to answer. The big Germans’ response was to giggle at the most inappropriate time ever. I can only guess he may of misunderstood the question but either way it was amusing to watch.
Ozil still out
Mesut Ozil won’t make the match against Bayern Munich due to still not being fit. Ozil had returned to training on Sunday. Arsene Wenger has stated that he will be fit for the weekend match against Lincoln City in the FA Cup quarter finals.
Sanchez social media
Alexis Sanchez so called response on social media site Instagram was interesting. Luckily it was already translated for me. Sanchez wrote ‘The true warrior fights not because he hates the ones in front of him, but because he loves those behind him. Let’s go gunners, the only failure is not trying’
Interesting and slightly bizarre.
Apparently Silent Stan’s choice to take over from Arsene Wenger is Thierry Henry. As much as the French man is an Arsenal legend, he is not the man to take over with no experience of managing. One thing Arsenal supporters would not want to see is Henry fail, and the club needs big changes in the months to come.
Early team news
As already mentioned, Mesut Ozil will miss the game against Bayern Munich tonight, but if reports are to be believed Alexis Sanchez will start the match. I think we all realise the club needs a miracle to turn around a 5-1 deficit, but you know what, this is football and anything can happen. Well that’s what I’m telling myself today.
