Ronaldo’s hat trick has moved Juventus into the ¼ Champions League final

In the return match of the 1/8 Champions League finals Juventus hosted Atletico. “The league of comebacks” proceeds: three productive shots by Ronaldo allowed Bianconeri to enter the top-8 of Europe.

Bianconeri needed to win back handicap (-2). They started the match straight away. Massimiliano Allegri’s football players occupied the half of the field of the Mattress Makers and already in the debut of the meeting have scored the first goal.

However the head referee of the match Björn Kuipers didn’t count the goal: after consultation with VAR the Dutch decided that Cristiano Ronaldo violated the rules in a fight against Jan Oblak. After that Giorgio Chiellini has shot the goal.

Under the line of the first half Atl. Madrid seemed to take the lead: the guests from the capital of Spain were playing keep-ball in the attacking third of the field for a long period of time but as a result they ran on counterattack.

Federico Bernardeschi’s pass from the left half space of the attack to the Penalty area which was closed by none other than Ronaldo – 1:0 by the direct shot became its result. Several minutes later Bernardeschi had the chance to shine: the winger of Bianconeri kicked from the dangerous penalty but the ball flew over the crossbar.

In final minute of the time the first moment was created also by Madrilenians: after a cross from the right wing the ex-player of Juventus Alvaro Morata kicked the header from the center of the penalty area but he didn’t manage to upset his former partners – the ball flew above goal mouth.

SECOND HALF

The start of the second half turned out to be hot and sharp. Only some minutes have passed after the break and Ronaldo evened the score on aggregate. João Cancelo “has rocked” the opponent on the right wing of the attack and shot to the center of the penalty area where again Juventus “seven” turned to be higher than all others: Oblak managed to turn the ball away but at that moment the ball has already got into the goal area – 2:0.

However the course of the remained time was practically unremarkable. Allegri’s team continued to control the ball but residents of Turin were lacking the last pass.

The Mattress Makers were playing strictly from defense, waiting for the one and only moment at Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny‘s possession but the Black and Whites over and over again were covering the players of the guests’ attacking group.

Moise Kean could decide the outcome: the substituted 19-year-old forward of Juventus got into the wheelhouse thanks to Chiellini, rushed into the penalty area and kicked into the far corner – it was nearly lucky shot.

But, most likely, Kean decided not to “spoil” Ronaldo’s evening and allowed him to put the end: Ángel Correa violated the rules in own penalty area on Bernardeschi.

Atl. Madrid was punished by a kick from the 11-meter mark. No alternative was possible: the 34-year-old Portuguese approached the ball and surely scored the goal – 3:0!

As the result – one more comeback in the Champions League playoffs: the fourth team that has lost in the first meeting got into the quarterfinal of the best club tournament in the planet.
