What Will Happen to Your Body If You Never Go Outside…

Our computers, consoles and phones can keep us home all day and provide us with all the news and information we need. We can even work from home, shop about everything online and order delivery. So why should we even bother going outside?

From a health standpoint there are actually a number of reasons why we should go outside. Being outside, coming in contact with the earth and showering your skin in sun rays actually affects your wellness in numerous ways.

Let’s look at what could happen to you if you never went outside at all…
You will feel, look and become sick!

img_2085Something you may have already heard of, is that the sun helps your body produce Vitamin D. Sunlight doesn’t actually contain vitamin D, but rather it causes a reaction which ultimately results in ‘activating’ vitamin D called ‘Calcitriol’. Vitamin D is a very important nutrient for our diet because it helps us to absorb and use calcium, which in turn is used to strengthen and grow our bones.

Sunlight travels with an enormous speed of 149,600,000 km from the sun to our skin, where it converts the fat in our body into a vitamin that can help us to improve our bone density; without it  your bones become much weaker and more prone to breaking.

Eventually you may start suffering with osteoporosis, combined with the lack of pigmentation in your skin. This will eventually make you look like a rather ill and sickly individual.

Vitamin D has also been proven to be vital for our immune function, as well as be able to combat cancer, Heart Disease and depression. That’s also part of the reason why people in colder, dumper climates are far more likely to suffer from depression.

You will become a neurotic being deprived of positive emotion

Submerging yourself in the calming environments provided by nature causes you to calm your heart rates and to reduce blood pressure. Just looking at the colour green has psychological benefits. A plant on your desktop at work will make your day much more bearable as natural sights and sounds activate parts of the brain associated with stability, empathy and love. So if you never went outside, you wouldn’t just be more sickly and ill looking, but you’d also be far more stressed and anxious and depressed.

You might become an obese Gollum

Breathing indoor recycled air will definitely not allow you to clear out your lungs. Fresh air will give your immune system a break from all the nasty stuff in that recycled air. Near a beach you could also benefit from the salt content in the air which is known to have antibacterial properties. So staying inside will eventually cause you to become a weak, sickly and toxic creature much like a Gollum from Lord of the Rings…

Not visiting the outside world would result in your muscles wasting away and might cause you to suffer from diabetes, heart disease and a number of other diseases, resulting in a shorter life expectancy.

So as well as a being a pale, short, weak and depressed individual, enclosing your self in your house could also caus you to die early. So get outside already! Feel the sun on your skin and take a long walk with your dog! If you don’t have a dog, get one! You’ll be happier, healthier and you’ll live longer.
