In our last article in this series about Angels we learned about the rank of angels and now that we know that we can move on to learning about the power of angels in spiritual warfare. Arc angels and Cherubim angels are the warriors and guards that carry out the duties God assigned them and they are the ones that are engaged in spiritual warfare with you. When you became a Christian, spiritual warfare began for you that very day! If you remember in our previous articles you learned that the war between good angels, and Satan and his bad angels, is all about the prize. That prize is you. Satan will do anything he can to keep you from serving God. In the earthly realm our soldiers are trained for months before ever heading out to defend our country, yet it’s difference for Christians. We train for warfare by studying the Word, praying, and walking a walk of faith every single day! A Sharp Awareness of the Power of Angels In the Spiritual Realm It’s really kind of scary when you think about it. We are fighting an enemy we can’t see. Just image how hard it would be for our armed forces to fight in the dark without night vision goggles. Christians are no match for warfare if they aren’t prepared to see in the darkness. In order to recognize Satan’s attempts to destroy us we need that sixth sense that only God can give. That sixth sense is a sharp awareness of the spiritual realm and when you live close to God you automatically will have it! In the bible you will notice that every time God speaks of Satan or evil of any kind, He always comes from a prospective of victory. With God “it’s a done deal”! And while the end has not come for Satan yet, we should come at him with the same attitude. How Did Lucifer Get Thrown Out of Heaven? Have you ever wondered what really took place when God cast Lucifer and 1/3 of the angels out of heaven? In Revelation 12:7 it tells us that there was a war in heaven before he was cast out. Friends. God didn’t just politely tell Satan to leave. There was a fight between God, his angels, and Satan and his followers. But, they were no match for God! In verse 10 of Revelation 12, we find out that while Satan will be loosed on this earth for a while, he, and all his evil angels, will be cast into the lake of fire to be tormented forever! So What is Our Formula For Victory Over Satan? Will The Power of Angels Help Us? We know that the bible tells us Satan is defeated then we are supposed to be victorious. The formula for our victory can be found in Revelation 12:11, and the order of it is very important as well. First, is the authority of Christ over the devil because of His shed blood. That also gave us believers authority over Satan as well. Next, is the word of our testimony. This means what comes our of our mouths on a daily basis, and how we speak the word to Satan when He throws those fiery darts. In the book of Matthew, we find that not only do we have authority over Satan, but we have also been given the key to the kingdom! There is no reason for you to fear spiritual warfare because our weapons are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. (2 Corinthians 10:4) In Ephesians 6:10-18 we can see that we are fully equipped because we have the armor of God. Spiritual Battles Requires Wearing The Full Armor of God First let me say that your commitment should have no spiritual compromise whatsoever! You can’t play with a snake and not expect to get bit. I know we all have sinned and come short at times, but we have to choose! We can’t love the world and love God. There is a scripture (Revelation 3:16) that really brings this home. God says He would rather you be hot or cold for Him because if you are lukewarm He will spit you out of His mouth! That’s pretty plain. We HAVE TO CHOOSE! What Is The Full Armor of God? Paul introduced us to the full armor of God in Ephesians. They are as follows: The Belt of Truth The Breastplate of Righteousness Shoes Shod With The Preparation of Peace The Shield of Faith The Helmet of Salvation The Sword of The Spirit We must also stay alert and pray at all times. Prayer, our communicating with God, is very powerful. Satan knows how critical your prayer life is and what can happen when true believers pray. He will do anything to stop us from praying! Why does Satan care if you pray? The sad truth is that he knows the power of prayer and what it can do better than some of the professed Christians today. Prayer moves the hand of God! And when prayers moves the hand of God it also releases the power of angels to carry out His plan. Satan’s Best Plan of Attack Against Prayer If you know the story in Daniel where an angel sent from God was trying to get a message to him you will know how God works. It took 21 days for Daniel to receive his answer to prayer. The bible tells us that a demon was blocking the Arc angel Gabriel from reaching Daniel. They struggled and struggled but Gabriel could not breakthrough. God sends another Arc angel named Michael to help. The two of them defeated the demon and Daniel received his answer. There are valuable lessons to be learned here. First, never give up when waiting on an answer to prayer. Second, God will do whatever it takes to answer your prayers, even if it means sending in more reinforcements. Remember, no battle has ever been won in just a few minutes so be encouraged to continue in prayer. God and His angels are at your disposal when you seek and ask for what aligns with God’s will.
