- Live The Way God Demands of Us
"But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;" (1 Peter 1:15 NIV)
Don't deceive yourself, there's a life God Demands of us. Romans 2:9 tells us that whether we are Christians or non-believers, if we do what the sinner does, we'd get what the sinner gets. It says "There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;" (NIV).
Don't fool yourself thinking you can live in sin, attend church and end up in heaven. No! You don't. Scripture says "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." (Gal 6:7 NIV). He judges us according to our works not according to our Faith (Rev 22:12).
Before we became saved, we were judged by faith, thus when we believed He brought us into the Kingdom family. But now that we are saved, He judges us by what we do with that faith. Remember Hebrews 6:10. "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the Love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." (NIV).
Works and labour of love, not mere believing. Works that prove our faith. Therefore, how can we say we love God and live in sin? Paul ask "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?" (Romans 6:1 NIV). Hence, there is a certain way He expects us to live; because it is what we would be judged by. He searches the heart but judges deeds (Jeremiah 17:10).
And how does He expect us to live? 1 Tim 6:10-11 says "...But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness." (NIV). And then it tells us that is how we hold tightly to eternal life. Therefore, are you still in sin? Depart from it, "For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live." (Romans 8:13 NIV)
