I could never complain about my childhood, it was sublime, full of fantasies, games, stories, paintings, imaginary friends, children’s music … And full of clovers, a plant that blooms in spring and summer, is known as a four-leaf Clover leaves, but delicate clovers usually have only three leaves, and finding a four-leaf clover … well … is luck.
I remember that I must have been four years old and had a pre-school classmate who lived in a building next to my house. At the entrance to the building, there was a flower bed full of shamrocks and when my mother took me to visit her it was always a fight: girl forget about those shamrocks !!! (laughs) Yes, I wanted to find the lucky clover.
There is a lovely song by Fernanda Takai whose lyrics say: I live waiting and looking for / A clover in my garden / Four little leaves born in the open / They would take me close to heaven / Happy I would be and the clover would do / May she come back to me / I live waiting and looking for / A clover in my garden.
I can’t remember if I ever found the clover with the four leaves, and suddenly it was as if the modernity of the big cities swallowed up the beautiful beds and extinguished the good luck charms even more.
Then one of these days, I was remembering the green of the clover, a bright green, illuminated, that makes you want to wish for more life. Each leaf of the clover is believed to have an important meaning: hope, faith, love and luck. Such a rare luck, so mysterious, so questioned, so necessary, that some say it does not exist, this so dreamed of luck!
Life gives us hope, faith, love and such luck we often have to materialize, or, there are cases in which we have less than three leaves. That luck doesn’t come in the package, that fourth little green leaf is somewhere waiting to be found. Such luck hopes to “hope” and many wander by it every day, but they are all so engrossed in their urgencies that they do not stop to think about rescuing the lucky leaf.
The shamrocks go on with their three leaves or less while the fourth one is out there with its bright green light waiting, and the eyes remain closed to the simplest.
May there be more beds, more shamrocks planted, more greedy eyes and more hope, faith, love and above all, simplicity to find the sweet luck, which can be hidden even within us, in a place so deep that only with hope, faith and love we can redeem it.
