New artists featured at the Art Center – Estes Park Trail-Gazette

        Trending:
On Exhibit
“Meet the New Artists” featuring four artists who were juried and accepted during 2021. They are Jennifer Shoemaker – watercolor, Tim Diffenderfer – pastel, Diane Watson – egg tempera and Andrea Gabel – oil.
This is the first opportunity these artists have to get featured in an exhibit. Later on they will get their own individual featured show. To become an Artist Member, one must apply, submit five to six examples of their work, and get juried. Once accepted, the new Artist Member is able to begin to display their artwork.  Depending on the level of participation selected, Artist Members will need to staff the gallery and serve on a committee. Anyone interested in joining the Art Center can either go online to the website at www.artcenterofestes.com or contact the Art Center Gallery Manager for further information.
Also on display in the gallery are the outstanding work of the other Art Center artist members, including other works in oil painting, watercolor, pastel, jewelry, ceramics, charcoal, graphite, glass, wood, sculpture, fiber, photography, printmaking and mixed media.
The Art Center is now open with winter hours which are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Masks are required. Handmade masks are available for a $10 donation, as well as free masks.
Upcoming Classes
January 29, 2022
Tangled Frost Flower with Annie Reiser
1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Art Center Members: $32.40. Non-Members: $36.
This cool blue “frost flower” is based on the tangle pattern, Fassett, by certified Zentangle® teacher, Lynn Mead. Inspired by Shie Naritomi, my design incorporates other tangles and fragments to capture the mood of swirling snowflakes in a nighttime storm. We will draw on a luscious gray Zendala tile by Zentangle® (included in class fee), shade with a variety of pencils, and add sparkling highlights with white charcoal.
Materials provided by the teacher as part of the class fee.
Electronic handout on how to draw the frost flower, kneaded erasers, white gel pens to share plus Zendala tile.
A materials list is provided for those who wish to bring their own supplies. However, you may purchase a kit directly from the instructor on the day of class for $8.00 that will provide you with all supplies you will need.
