LET US HAVE A FLOOD
With great respect for Immanuel Velikovsky, (Author of, Worlds in Collision) – it is my opinion that the planets struggled for their respective positions in the Solar System.
During that struggle, a conflict occurred between the outermost moon of Jupiter, Venus, Small Planet X (between Jupiter and Mars) Mars, and Earth (outward to inward of Solar System).
Prior to the struggle beginning, Venus was an outermost fringe moon of Jupiter. It became dislodged because of a gravitational attraction from a rogue object. Perhaps it was a small planet or comet, but after becoming dislodged and without a permanent orbit it fought for supremacy with Small Planet X which lost, and burst into small pieces to become the Asteroid Belt.
Venus then preceded on to Mars a smaller planet. Mars at the TIME
After ravaging Mars, Venus was gravitationally directed toward the orbit of Earth. Unlike Mars, Earth was more powerful than Venus and although not escaping unscathed itself, it captured much of the icy tail from Venus.
Venus eventually settled into its present orbit. The captured tail defrosted because of the heat generated by the conflict of Venus and Earth to become a canopy of vapor above the Earth. After much TIME
Other notables, including Noah, being extremely intelligent, righteous and having lived for hundreds of years determined that if the canopy were to collapse it would bring down sufficient water to literally cover the highest mountains on Earth and drown humanity. He (like others) was inspired to build the Ark for survival.
Recent geographical radar maps of Venus show extremely high mountains that have not suffered from erosion. That would be consistent with mountain building during the encounter with Earth in the far distant past.
Our small Moon can easily pull the waters of Earth over 40 feet in height at the Bay of Fundy between the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (Wikipedia, Bay of Fundy accessed April 5, 2016).
What would the gravitational effect of Earth do to the surface of Venus? Would huge mountains be formed on the surface? Would not the encounter also build mountains on Earth?
Now the Old Testament would have us believe that the flood occurred deliberately because Noah and his family were the only worthy humans left on Earth.
Is that true, or is that a corruption inserted into the story for the perpetuation of a religious belief?
I prefer to believe that it was corrupted because FREE WILL
“Now the Old Testament would have us believe that the flood occurred deliberately because Noah and his family were the only worthy humans left on Earth.”
My Thoughts – OF COURSE WE HAD A GREAT FLOOD:
Did the flood really happen?
In my opinion it did, but not because God intervened and deliberately annihilated the entire population of the world because of their sins.
It happened because of previous cataclysmic occurrences, mainly because of the waters of Mars, which made up the tail of Venus and eventually the highly vaporous canopy of Earth, after thousands, perhaps millions of years, fell to Earth as rain.
An intelligent being, be it Noah or a human in another country, would realize the eventuality that an adverse impact would occur and would begin to prepare for it.
You know the rest of the story. Remember, to have the flood, according to Genesis 7:11, “…the windows of heaven were opened.”
Do you believe the flood in the bible really occurred?
