Among the most frequently misunderstood conditions now is that the term “antichrist”. Like many other people, I initially thought the expression was just the name of a Tyrant which will rule the planet through the end times. But after questioning my premise and rereading the Bible, I developed a new comprehension of the expression. In this column I talk about the significance of the word “antichrist” and also the several names that the person who we call “the Antichrist” goes by from the Bible.
The Name “Antichrist”
The word “antichrist” appears in just three passages from the whole Bible: 1 John 2:18-22, 1 John 4:2-3, and two John 1:7. The word “antichrist” in Greek means “contrary to Christ” or at “resistance of Christ”.
John branded individuals who denied that Jesus is the Christ and that Jesus came in flesh within an “antichrist” in 1 John 2:18-22 and two John 1:7.
John didn’t call these folks antichrist since they’re all destined to become a future world tyrant. John called these folks antichrist since their refusal made them compared to Christ. Thus, John’s use of this expression in this context was proper given the fundamental Greek meaning of the period.
John also implemented the word “antichrist” to religious beings at 1 John Chapter 4.
This statement is very similar to John’s announcement that any individual that denies that Jesus came in flesh is an antichrist. This announcement showed that that the spirit of antichrist was already on earth during John’s time. This soul is connected to the coming figure that’s usually known as “the Antichrist” today.
Antichrist: The Upcoming Tyrant
As stated before, most see the word “antichrist” as just the name of a tyrant which will rule the planet through the end times. Given what we have already present within this research, you probably wonder where the custom of people referring for the upcoming tyrant as “the Antichrist” originated out.
John wrote in 1 John 2:18 which “you’ve heard that antichrist shall come”. The reference here is to a person that will oppose Christ later on. Thus, we can trace the custom of Christians speaking to some future tyrant since the Antichrist back to John’s day.
The guy that will assume that the position of Antichrist is said during the Old Testament and New Testament under many aliases.
People have speculated about who are the Antichrist because Christ left Earth. But the majority of men and women don’t understand that antichrists are on Earth all together. Spirits and people that oppose Jesus Christ have existed since New Testament times, such as the soul of Antichrist said in 1 John 4. But during the ending times humanity will confront a tyrant that has been known as “Antichrist” because John’s day.
