A decision tree for Azure Networking

Whether you are planning to use Express Route or VPN tunnels to connect your data centers to Azure, and you want to use a co-location provider in your region to reach Azure or extend your MPLS network to Microsoft. Are you also thinking what is the optimal route to connect your regions?

These are the 4 questions to start with:

  1. Do you need dedicated, reliable connectivity and bandwidth?
  2. Do you need more than 1.25Gbps of bandwidth?
  3. Do you need to inspect outbound internet traffic using on-prem devices or cloud native?
  4. Do you have shared services in central location or deploy a centralized security policy to control traffic flows from VNETs?

Use the following diagram to get some guidance and find answers to these questoins (start from the center or the orange boxes)
