Today's MIEE Spotlight is on Jennifer Harvey, a teacher from Kilmaron Special Education School in Fife. Jenny is passionate about the role that technology can play in supporting young people with a range of educational needs.

The Pupils that Jenny works with in Kilmaron have complex additional support needs including; communication, mobility requirements and support in socialising with others. Using technology like OneNote in the classroom has allowed Jenny to discover new ways to communicate with her young people and opened up a whole new level of communication that she never thought possible.

Jenny uses a variety of Office 365 tools through Scotland's GLOW Portal and has found great benefit in using her Surface Pro 4 Device due to the amazing digital inking capabilities. She is able to easily take notes during school collegiate time and training sessions with her digital pen, and keep it all organised in her OneNote. Shared documents within OneDrive assists her with shared planning for pupils and provides a real opportunity for collaborative planning and assessment. This reduces the time necessary to allocate for collaborative work and enriches the Learning experience of pupils.

Jenny is also a member of Fife's Digital Learning Team who work with schools, teachers, support staff and pupils across Fife to promote digital learning, ensuring all pupils develop 21st Century Learning Skills. They run a wide range of courses and Teach Meets that incorporate the great use of Microsoft technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
