Hardenhuish is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive School set in the magnificent parkland of the former Hardenhuish Manor and Chippenham Grammar School. Hardenhuish School caters to nearly 1500 pupils aged 11-18 and is one of three secondary schools in Chippenham, Wiltshire. They became an Academy Converter in 2010 and have been a Microsoft Showcase School since 2016/2017. They are fully dedicated to maintaining strong ethos and high standards, whilst offering experiences relevant to the 21st century, including the use of modern technologies.

Their aim is for all their young people to be ‘inspired to learn’ – to leave us as independent learners, with the necessary skills for lifelong learning. They provide a purposeful approach to learning, ensuring that this incorporates fun and engagement. As a Microsoft Showcase School they are at the leading edge of new technologies and are continually exploring ways to incorporate ICT into lessons in a meaningful way. They were awarded the status following two years of promoting technology to enhance teaching and learning by using Office 365, OneNote Class Notebooks and SharePoint during lessons. The School has invested in tablet computers for all teaching staff, as well as allowing tablets to be accessed by pupils in class, and allowing sixth form students to bring in their own devices. 

Reinier Spruijt, ICT Innovations Manager at Hardenhuish School, said: “Over the next few months, we have a group of lead practitioners who have been tasked with enthusing the school’s wider staff to deliver lessons that will enable pupils to access learning when and where they need it.”

They are also invested in using single-sign-on web apps that integrate with Office 365. All teachers have been issued with Surface 3 tablets running Windows 10 and take part in a competitive, tailored technology CPD programme. The School is a Certiport test centre, offering Microsoft certifications, which enriches our STEM offer and staff CPD.
