The day will be a mixture of keynote presentations and workshops, delivered and hosted by educators and games-based learning experts, who all use Minecraft to great effect in their classrooms and beyond.
Stephen Reid, Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator and Minecraft expert will take us on a tour of the new worlds, tutorials, and resources and show just how easy it is for students to collaborate in small or large learning groups and create and learn together.
Stephen Reid will then introduce you to a global community of educators using Minecraft as a platform to motivate and inspire every student to achieve more. He’ll show you where to find tutorials, biomes, lesson plans and worlds to get you started in the classroom.
Tracy Broadbent, teacher and author, will share the new challenges developed for this year’s Hour of Code, which takes place in Computer Science Education week in early December. Pick up Minecraft resources which are as popular with girls as with boys and encourage your students to join over 100 million students who have participated so far, globally.
MIEExpert James Protheroe and Tracy Broadbent: Delegates will be shown how a collaboration between schools and Minecraft inspired a Roald Dahl writing project. They will also preview a new book and resource kit for primary schools, from Rising Stars, which will be published in the early new year.
