One of the top budget Smartphones of 2015/16.
The Huawei Honor 4X is my favorite Budget smartphone of 2015/16. It’s a powerful performance smartphone at a great cost. Let me explain why.
The smartphone can be purchased on Amazon from £139.00 brand new. The Black/White model is £139.00 and the Black model is £154.00. Both the different model colours however have the same specifications, there just seems to be more demand for the black phone.
The Honor 4X has a 64-Bit Quad Core 1.2GHz processor & 1.2Ghz Octa-core. which gives this smartphone great speeds. You won’t need to worry about this phone crashing or freezing up, unless you are really going overboard with the amount of apps you’ve got open. Now if you aren’t so ‘techy’ when it comes to knowing how good the performance is on a 1.2Ghz processor on a mobile device, I thought it might be useful to list some popular smartphones of 2015/16 so you can see what processor they are running on.
The Apple iPhone 6 – Dual Core 1.4Ghz Processor. (Notice that this is a Dual Core processor, not Quad!) The Honor 4X has a Quad Core processor which is essentially 2 of these in one integrated circuit. Having said that you shouldn’t assume that is this going to be double the speed because it doesn’t quite work like that. But realistically in comparison to the iPhone 6 the speed isn’t going to be far off with the use of the Octa-core 1.2Ghz also.
Samsung Galaxy S6 – 1.5Ghz Octa Core (8x Cores). This is really were you can see that Apple are charging people a hell of a lot of money for their branding. When you are comparing it to a cheap budget phone and another popular phone on the market. But I won’t go into that as many people are really already aware of Apple’s prices and why they aren’t value for money.
LG Nexus 5X – Quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 & dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57. So this phone actually has two integrated circuits with two different processors, which is the same kind of build in the Honor 4X just slightly slower/downgraded.
The honor 4X has a Micro SD card which can store up to 32GB of memory. Again if you compare this to other smartphones on the market today which are popular and expensive, let’s see if they have SD card capabilities:
Apple iPhone 6 – No Card Slot. So realistically.. the storage of this can’t be upgraded easily without paying out extra to get the better storage model.
Samsung Galaxy 6 – No card slot. The Samsung Galaxy S7 does however feature this. You can read my review here about why the Samsung galaxy S6 should have realistically had the features of the S7 last year.
LG Nexus 5X – No card slot.
Other impressive features
The Huawei Honor 4X has a 3000 mAH Battery, which gives an impressive 72 hours battery life. Yes you read that correctly. Performance wise you are looking at getting at least 2 full-days of use without needing to charge it. The phone also features a 13 Mega pixel main camera and a 5 MP front camera. A built-in dual microphone which helps massively with noise reduction and super fast internet connection speeds with the ability to use 4G services.
|Processor||Octa-Core 1.2GHz||Quad-core 1.2Ghz|
|Graphics card||Mali-450MP4||Adreno 306|
|Screen resolution||720×1280 pixels|
|Storage||Internal- 8GB||SD Card- Up to 32GB|
|Standby||Up to 200 Hours|
|Talk Time||Up to 15 Hours|
|Camera||Front- 5MP||Back- 13MP|
|Video||1080p @ 30fps|
To sum up, I really do feel that this phone is great value for money for what it is. The specifications are design are very competitive among many of the big market shareholders. The phone features a Micro SD card slot which many smartphones don’t have on offer. Dual-Sim technology, Dual Cameras at impressive mega pixels and an impressive 72 hours battery life which many smartphones would struggle to get close to.
My star rating: 5/5
