Open Windows Explorer at "This PC" Instead of Quick Access

While Quick Access is great for finding a recently or commonly used file or folder, those who just want to find something quickly on their computer might prefer the “This PC” view from Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, here’s how.

Click on Start menu - click on Explorer- or you can use key board shortcut win + E this will open Quick Access window.

Now Click View in the ribbon -  Click Options - On Folder Options window - Under General Tab, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”


 when you launch a new Explorer window, you’ll start at This PC, which you’re probably used to from past versions.

Set up GodMode
GodMode for Windows 10 gives you access to 262 new god-like powers. And, while it doesn't give you unlimited lives or save you from bluescreens, it does expose some additional features and tools to play with. The awesomely named GodMode brings up a special menu that puts lots of settings together in one place.


To enable it, create a new folder anywhere on your root drive and rename it GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. It will create a special icon that when you click on it shows you a beautiful advanced control panel.


 Start searching with Google / Make Google to Default Search

Since Bing is the default search engine for Microsoft Edge and the Windows 10 search bar, it’s hard to get away from Microsoft’s search engine. However, despite improvements and Microsoft’s best efforts to force Bing upon Windows users, Google will always reign supreme. While totally removing Bing from Windows 10 is impossible, you can kick it out of Edge and clumsily replace it in the Windows 10 search bar.

How to remove Bing from Microsoft Edge:

Open Edge and select the ellipsis on the right, Go to Settings, then  Select Advanced Settings


Under “Search in the address bar”, change the default option to “Add New”
Here, you’ll see a list of available search engines.


If the list is empty (as it tends to be), navigate to your browser of choice and repeat the process. You should now see it listed as an available provider

Open Chrome and download “Bing2Google” from the Chrome App Store . install it

Virtual desktops Feature On Windows 10

A favorite with Mac OS X users, the ability to have multiple desktops running concurrently is now included in Windows 10 and it’s great.  The virtual desktops feature in Windows 10 is called “Task View” and is located on the Task bar.



Whether you have loads of apps open or a week’s worth of Office documents, virtual desktops lets you organise your space.

To set one up, tap or click on the small icon – or press Windows key + Tab – to the right of the Cortana search bar and this will bring up all of the your open windows. If you scan your eyes to the bottom right hand corner you should see the option to '+ New desktop'.

Change Default App Setting / Microsoft Edge Browser opening everything by default

Microsoft’s replacement for its creaking Internet Explorer browser is a welcome change, but it’s eagerness to open everything as the default app is not.

However, you can stop Windows 10 using it as default – and set defaults for all your other applications.

Open Settings and go to System now click on Default Apps


Here, you can reassign defaults for a whole array of services and applications and even assign them by the type of file they open

  Disable Login Screen In Windows 10

Starting with Windows 8 and continuing in Windows 10, users must type their password before logging into their account after booting or when switching user accounts. This Windows 10 password login screen will appear by default for any user account with which a password is associated.

Now that Windows 10 knows more about you than ever before, it makes sense to keep your profile behind a password or bio metric lock. However, it’s endlessly annoying to boot up your desktop or laptop, walk off to do something and come back to discover it still hasn’t booted into desktop and loaded startup apps because of your lock screen.

Lets disable or bypass the Windows 10 login screen and automatically log directly into their account when booting.

You can finally print a document (or rather, save it) as PDF without using a third-party utility.
Windows 10 finally lets you “print” documents to PDF. No more installing a third-party app to save a web page or document for use offline; now you can select PDF as a printing output option to have Windows 10 export documents into Adobe’s indispensable file format.


Command prompt tweaks

A lot of Windows 10 utilities underneath the service still look the same as they did in Windows 7 and Windows 8. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is working on a fix, but you can make things easier on yourself in the meantime by adding a subtle border to your active window.

Download regional maps you can use to navigate in Windows 10's maps app when you don't have reliable Internet.
The new Maps app lets you work offline (Remember those old Microsoft Maps programs?); click Settings - system - Click on offline maps -  Download or Update Maps, and then select the continent and country you want.


Take control of Windows 10 updates

While Windows 10 may remove much of the effort when it comes to updates, it also has a terrible habit of resetting your computer at the worst times. While you can delay some updates if you’re running Windows 10 Pro, Home users have no choice but to succumb to Microsoft’s update will.

Under “Metered Connection”, toggle the “Set as metered connection” switch on.

Go back to Settings and select “Update & Security”


Choose “Advanced Options”, then use the dropdown menu to select “Notify to schedule restart” instead of Automatic. Now, you’ll be notified when Windows 10 is about to restart so you can stop it.
