How To Add Favicon In WordPress?

Favicon is the tiny image appears next to the Page title in the web browser. It helps the users to identify your site and also increase your brand recognition. Are you a newbie for Wordpress and don’t know how to Add Favicon in WordPress Blog? Don’t worry!! In this tutorial, we will show you different ways to add favicon to WordPress blog.

There are three different ways to add favicon in WordPress blog.

  • Through “WordPress setting”
  • Using Plug-in.

Methods to Add Favicon To WordPress Blog or Site

Method 1: Through “WordPress setting”

1) Login to WordPress admin panel using correct User Name and Password.

2) On the Left side menu bar, Navigate to Appearance >> Customize.

3) New window will open up. Click Site Identity and find Select Image option in the left sidebar. Click that and upload favicon.

Method 2: Using a plug-in

1) Login to WordPress admin panel using correct User Name and Password.

2) On the Left side menu bar, Navigate to Plugin>>Add New. Search “All in one favicon” plugin and install it.

3) On the left menu bar, navigate to Settings>>All in one favicon.

4) Plugin settings will open up and you can upload favicon. Using this plug-in, you can upload favicon in different format i.e., ICO, GIF, PNG.

Method 3: Through theme “Header.php” file

If you are using WordPress 4.2 or older version, then this is the best way to add favicon to WordPress site.

1) Login to you site Cpanel, (www.yoursitename.com/cpanel or www.yoursitename.com:2082 ) with correct username and Password.

2) Navigate to File manager>> public_html. Click upload on the top left menu and upload favicon. Now you have successfully upload favicon in your server.

Note: Make sure that your site icon name is “favicon” i.e., websitename.ico.

3) Now, Navigate to wp-content>>theme>> (Your-Theme-Name) >> Header.php

4) Right click on the file (header.php) and click Code edit. Next, copy the code given below and paste it in head (i.e) in between

Note: Change yoursitename.com to your domain name.
