We’re all about team building, learning new skills and rewarding great work at Lead Forensics.
Back in 2018, we were named in the top 20 inspirational places to work in the UK by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Glassdoor. We believe our commitment to incentivizing and boosting the morale of our teams played a huge role in achieving that accolade. And, we’re strong believers that giving our teams the chance to develop their professional relationships outside of the office can work wonders for their performance and happiness in the workplace. Because of this, we regularly organize trips, events and away days for our staff. Earlier in August, we hosted a trip to Cowes on the Isle of Wight during Cowes Week; and last week we headed back to the seaport town, using a slightly different mode of transport to get there…
On Friday 30 August, we took a team of 100 high-performers on a sailing venture from Portsmouth to Cowes. They arrived at Port Solent at 12.30pm and met with our Sunsail Event Manager, who talked us through what the day had in store for us. After splitting into teams of ten, the workforce set sail and headed towards Cowes. Each team was shown the ropes and given the chance to try it out before commencing the race. From steering to raising the sail, it was all hands-on deck for the teams as they crossed The Solent. Strong winds meant the sail was no easy feat, with twists, turns and a lot of hard work from all involved. The LF team was met with drinks and nibbles at the Royal Ocean Racing Club in Cowes and spent some time relaxing and chatting in the sunshine over some light refreshments.
The winning boat was made up of a team of ten — consisting of COO Henry Braithwaite; Bournemouth Sales Manager Oliver Roberts; Bobbie Webb, Steven Howarth and Thomas Bird from the Data team; Connor Jackson, Michael Austin and Jeremy Field from the Sales teams; Simone Morfey from Finance, and James Barnes from SDR. Congratulations on winning the race!
MD Paul Thomas, said: “We’re lucky to have an office to close in the south coast — and being so near to the Island, we try to make the most of that as often as we can. This was our inaugural sailing event, and we hope to experience it again in the future.”
He added: “Getting out on the water and working together as a team on something that many of us have never taken part in before was both fun and challenging. It was great to see everyone get involved and really tackle the challenge head on. Plus, we were lucky to have some warm weather, even if the wind was a little stronger than anticipated!”
After a rest, the teams made their way back to Gunwharf Quays — the tiring afternoon meant that many of them opted to use engines in place of sails on their journey back. Upon arrival at around 7pm, the team was able to enjoy an evening of drinks, dancing and socializing at Portsmouth’s Eden. We’re thrilled the team had such a good time, and Lead Forensics would like to thank the Sunsail team for the fantastic experience and support they provided us, as well as the Royal Ocean Racing Club and Eden for their wonderful hospitality.
MD Paul Thomas added: “We want Lead Forensics to be a fantastic place to work. Morale and energy are high, staff want to give a world-class performance at all times, and everyone from junior team members to senior management are working towards common goals. It’s a great environment to be in, and creating fun and exciting opportunities like the sailing regatta is another way to let the team know their hard work never goes unnoticed.”
He added: “We had a great day — from learning new skills to spending an afternoon away from desks, it was great to see the team have so much fun. We love being able to reward high performers with experiences like these, and it acts as a great opportunity for staff working in different teams to get to spend some time together. We look forward to the next trip that we have the pleasure of hosting!”
