How to Set Default View for Folders & Subfolders on Mac

Mac users may find themselves stuck in a situation wherein all the Finder window keeps launching with different view options. Well, you can fix this by following the steps mentioned in the blog. Steps to Set the Finder View for Folders and Sub-Folders • Go to the “Finder” window by pressing on the “Finder” symbol located in the system dock or by pressing on the space given on the Screen and choosing the “New finder” option by going to the “Finder’s folder” drop-down menu. • After the “Finder” options start showing on the screen, then you have to choose more than one symbol listed in the “Finder” option taskbar. Or choose any one type of “Finder” you wish to get from the drop-down menu of Finder. • Once you have chosen the “Finder view” option, then you have to select the “Show View Options” by going to the “Finder’s View” drop-down menu. • You have to set the boundary you like to view the chosen Finder’s type located in the “View options” pop-up box and after that tap on the “Use as Defaults” option next to the end of the pop-up box. Steps to Permanently Set a Folder View in Finder • Go to the “Finder” option and after that, start browsing to that folder where you like to place the “View options.” • You have to use more than one view options located at the upper side of the “folder” option for setting the view options for a folder. • For creating it permanently, you have to choose the “View” button and after that, choose “Show View Options” by going to the “Finder” drop-down menu. • You have to place the bookmark in the checkbox named as “Always open in X view.” The “X” will be the recent name of the “Finder view” window. After following the steps mentioned above, now the folder starts using the “X” view which you had chosen when you wish to launch it. Steps to Permanently Set Subfolders Views • Go the “Parent” folder of which you like to set the view options and spread to the entire of the views subfolders. You do not have to worry in case you had set the view options of the “Parent” files. You should go through the settings of the “Parent” files again before you start spreading them to the entire of the views subfolders. • After setting the Finder view of the “Parent” folders, you need to open the “Automator” window provided in the “Apps” file. • After the Automator gets open on the screen, then you have to choose the “Workflow” diagram by going to the pull-down list and after that, tap on the “Choose” option. • Now, the Automator’s edge is separated in the four major window panes. The library screen controls the entire actions and variables which Automator knows the usage procedure. • The “Workflow” screen is t where you can put up Workflow by pairing the actions. • The “Description” screen will offer a small description of the chosen actions and variables. • The large screen start showing the workflow results when it gets open on the screen. • For creating the “Workflow,” you have to choose the “Actions” option located in the “Library” screen. • After that, choose the “Files and folders” option provided in the list of actions which are currently available. • Press on the “Get Specific Finder Items” option provided in the second row and after that, pull it to the “Workflow” screen. • Tap on the “Add” option given in the “Get Specific Finder Items” option which you had added in the “Workflow” screen. • Tap on the “Add” option after browsing to the folder. • Go back to the “Library” screen and pull the “Set Folder Views” option into the “Workflow” screen. • You have to click on the options showing into the “Set Folder Views.” • You have to add a bookmark into the “Apply Changes to Subfolders” checkbox. • Tap on the “Run” option located in the upper right-hand side. • Now, shut down the “Automator” window.
