QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Take information technology. We have winners implementing CRM (customer relationship management systems) and losers implementing CRM. What mattered in technology is that the technology actually drives either cost reduction or superior strategy execution.” ~ Tahl Raz

GOOGLE DISCOVERED LINK BETWEEN ATTACK AND IRAN STATE MEDIA
Google found out the missing piece of the puzzle which links the attack and Iran State media.
HOW DID GOOGLE REVEAL THE INFORMATION?
According to Google, it has unearthed a disinformation attack over its various properties which has been linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
Google reported that it revealed and stopped 39 YouTube channels which had 13466 in total US views on pertinent videos. Along with these channels, it also terminated 6 Blogs on blogger and 13 Google + accounts linked with the disinformation campaign.
Google said, “Technical data associated with the bad actors are strongly linked to the official IRIB IP address space” and “domain ownership information about these actors is strongly linked to IRIB account information.”
Further, the search engine giant said that account metadata and subscriber information associated with these actors is “strongly linked” to the analogous information related with Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB)., stipulating common ownership and control.
The tech giant took help of FireEye, a cybersecurity organization in order to recognize three of the YouTube channels linked to Iran. This cybersecurity firm helped Facebook, the social media giant to discover disinformation attacks.
These types of threats are analyzed by internal Threat Analysis Group, along with its partners at Jigsaw and Google’s Trust & Safety team. The team uses intelligence community & outside groups too.
Like its tech rivals, it works with the intelligence community and outside groups to further unearth any probable attacks.
WHY DOES IT MATTER & WHAT’S NEXT?
Although, Facebook and Twitter have already reported earlier this week that they have unearthed synchronized disinformation campaigns related to Iran, although no tech firm but Google has declared that it has found a direct link between Iran state media and the attack. This confirms the news furthermore.
Google alerts that phishing attacks, cybercriminals will continue tricking you and be a threat to all Gmail users or any other email users that’s why users need to be more watchful.
