A compete meds tracking system to aid in inventory management and fraud prevention

THE CHALLENGE
The Pensions Department of the Association had asked an external software company to develop a Meds Tracking System. Sadly, this application was developed using very different technologies than the ones commonly used and applied by the Association in the rest of their systems. Hence, Quadion was asked to migrate/integrate the new software with the usual and current technologies used by the Association.
OUR ACTION
We migrated the whole app from .NET to Java and from SqlServer to DB2.
The system had three main users:
- Pharmacists, who verify medication orders.
- Doctors, who issue prescriptions.
- Association’s members, who upload medication orders in the system.
The software comprises several modules focused on improving the meds management.
Firstly, the app is used to manage all members, health professionals and providers. It also keeps track of the meds portfolio where all meds, dosage, etc. are detailed.
However, the main pillar of the app is the Prescription Management module, which keeps track of the prescriptions entered by pharmacist sinto the system on a daily basis. The system also provides pharmacists an interface offer different alternatives and to request new medicines.
The app keeps track of inventory, budget, requests and shipping of meds to patients and pharmacies. It also provides multiple managenent reports which keep track of purchases, inventory and deliveries. Plus, it provides audit statistics key to fraud prevention.
