The Client

The client is a transportation consulting firm located in the USA offering a broad range of services like transportation system planning, procurement, project structuring strategies and implementation since 1973 for clients worldwide.

The Need

Successful implementation and deployment of Microsoft Sharepoint includes a list of costs such as SharePoint consulting, training, and of course, SharePoint customization. And when you’re migrating or upgrading to the latest SharePoint versions, not many customizations can be migrated.

An upgrade from SharePoint 2013 to 2016 – The client was onboard SharePoint 2013 and had recently upgraded from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint 2016. The client had invested significant amount of time and money in customizing the older SharePoint 2013 version with Custom Sharepoint Forms and workflows that met specific business needs. When the client migrated SharePoint 2013 to 2016, not all customizations and workflows had been retained. They wanted to fix issues after the successful target server migration.

The client approached the Star Knowledge team of time-tested SharePoint consultants, that has intensive experience in Custom SharePoint forms development, Microsoft PowerApps and Power Automate, to help them fix the SharePoint customization & workflow issues.

The Challenge

The SharePoint customizations by no way should be a wasted investment was the client’s top objective. The client expected that all the customized workflows performed with the same functionalities on the latest version as performed on the former version of the platform. With the new SharePoint version upgrade, the client did not want the user experience to be affected that leaves employees frustrated and with adoption issues.

The Solution

Star Knowledge as a Microsoft Partner with over 10 years of experience in Microsoft SharePoint consulting services and SharePoint customizations with deep expertise in workflow automation, took the call and laid out a plan to revert the customizations and bring back older functionalities into the latest platform. The solution involved editing and republishing all the custom workflows.

Our team of expert SharePoint developers edited all the SharePoint workflows using C# and PowerShell. The team leveraged SharePoint Designer to customize the workflows and created custom web part to modify the content, appearance and behavior to match the new SharePoint environment.

The team used our Discover, Transform, and Implement strategy to build the custom solution for the client and meet their specific business needs.
