Gallium (GA) is a soft, silvery Metal on the elemental periodic table. It has a very low melting temperature around 85 degrees, so it will literally melt in your hands. Like the liquid metal man from Terminator, this stuff easily changes from solid to liquid and can take on any form. It has some industrial uses like creating metal alloys and electronics manufacturing, but it’s also super fun to play with. It’s safe to handle with your bare hands, but don’t let it make contact with other metals. It’s highly reactive with metal and will corrode and destroy the grain structure of aluminum and steel, making them extremely brittle. Check out the video below to see what a tiny amount of gallium does to an aluminum block.
