We’ve heard about the delicious concoctions our grandmothers used to whip up in the kitchen to give their Skin a natural flush and glow, in a time when beauty salons were unheard of. Here’s a little DIY dose from our kitchens, indeed herbal remedies. So, you can attain that perfect bridal glow.

When your body functions smoothly, it shows on your skin – only a healthy body can give a flawless skin. So if you’re fretting over those pimples and dark circles, here’s are some things you can conjure in the kitchen to make your skin brighter and clearer.

1) Good night’s sleep

Remember when we were young and had a cold, we would be given warm milk with haldi to cure it. As much as you may have hated this Drink, it is a magical potion for all those who have trouble sleeping at night due to all the stress. Just boil some milk and add a teaspoon of ghee along with haldi and a small piece of jaggery to it. Drink this up and wait for an hour before you lie down – the moment your head touches the pillow – buh’bye dark circles!

2) Bitter gourd iced tea

You know how they say that having raw Karela has tons of health benefits? But whoever in their right minds would consume an entire karela raw! Being an awesome blood purifier, it can give you a complete detox from within, leaving you with healthy glowing skin. Apart from that, karela also helps in weight loss and gives you a lustrous mane – here’s a little mocktail to help you drink raw karela juice without throwing up. Simply add crushed karela, cardamom, green tea leaves, cinnamon and clove in a flask and add boiling water to this. Seep for about 7 min or until the flavours flow out of each item. Chill this concoction in the fridge for about four hours and drink it with lots of ice.

3) Naughty Night-tea

Get it *wink*? This one’s for all the times you’ve been naughty and have cheated on your diet or over-binged on that deliciously spicy curry your aunt made for you. This drink is great for digestion and helps unclog the waste from your tummy, leaving you feeling light and your skin looking clean. Not to mention it is delicious too! Just take some crushed ginger, mint, ajwain, pepper, cardamom and add in some hot water. Drain and drink your way to good health and great skin!

4) Cleansing tea

Any waste that may have been accumulated in the stomach can give you dull, lifeless and acne prone skin. To get rid of bodily toxins, simply take some chopped ginger, mint, ajwain, pepper and cardamom in a flask or a jug and pour in a glass of boiling water, letting the masalas seep for about 7 minutes. Drain and drink this twice a day to help unclog everything that stands between you and your healthy looking skin!
