Our last post was dedicated to re-using your old lehenga by either lending it or deconstructing it or simply wearing all the elements separately. This one’s going to tell you all about what to bear in mind if you’re going to be wearing the entire ensemble, as it is, to someone else’s Wedding. Watch this space on how to reuse wedding lehenga.
There are a lot of apprehensions, when it comes to wearing your own wedding lehenga or saree to someone’s wedding. You don’t want to look like you want to outshine the bride and neither do you want to draw unwanted attention for being too overdressed. We untangle these tricky bits, so you end up looking like a million bucks, without coming off as an inconsiderate show-off.
1.Hold back on the hair
Almost every bride wears her hair pulled into a stylish, embellished braid or bun on her wedding day. The most sensible thing to do when wearing your own wedding outfit to someone else’s precious day, would be to leave your hair open in loose curls or waves, strictly avoiding any kind of add-ons in the hair.
2. Sober up the bling factor
Since your garment is so heavy, you want all the attention drawn onto it only. The best way to do this would be to wear minimal jewellery to sober up your overall look. Wear a tiny maang tikka if you must, with a pair of statement earrings and some bangles. Leave the neck bare if you can, so as to draw attention to the detailing on your exquisite blouse.
Caking your face with makeup is only going to make you look garish, with your heavy outfit. Opt for nude or neutral makeup and rule out the crimson blush-ons and dark lipsticks. Stick to minimal everyday makeup for best results. Wearing hints of peachy pink shades would add oomph to the look.
3.Bindi factor
Believe it or not, a plain red bindi can work at toning down the heaviest of Indian looks, be it a lehenga or a sharara, you can never go wrong with it. And what’s more – you end up looking like the pretty girl next door too!
