Sintra’s Disney-Esque Castles
In the popular destination of Sintra you’ll dine Park of Pena, packed with castles and buildings that look like they just came out of a fairytale itself. There is the large Moorish designed castle and the Grand Palace, as well as Pena National Palace. Kids will love the design and pretending they’re in their own Disney movie. 

Taste Testing at Lisbon’s Timeout Market
Timeout Market is Lisbon’s busiest food market and is packed with numerous food stalls in an indoor setting with casual bench seating. Basically, you and your children can try all of Portugal’s most delicious and famous dishes, including desserts and plenty of ice cream. 

Dolphin Spotting on The Algarve
The Algarve is packed with amazing beaches and for sure, children will love to spend time splashing around, but why not do something truly special? The Algarve is a top spot for dolphin spotting and you can head off on a boat trip to search them out. If you’re lucky, you might also spot sea turtles and blue sharks. 

Enjoy a Tuk Tuk Ride
You might not expect tuk tuks to be a real thing in Portugal but they’re a great, fun thing to spot and ride in if you’re in the Porto, Lisbon or Sintra areas. Be sure to negotiate your price with the driver before you get in, but the kids will definitely enjoy this one! 

Explore The Caves Grutas de Mira de Aire
In the center of the country you’ll find these huge and mysterious caves. Located around 110 meters below ground, these caves are the largest in the country and are packed with around 600 meters of underground passages and huge chambers. Kids are sure to love the idea of exploring underground! 

Try Portugal’s Most Famous Dessert
You can’t go to Portugal and not try the most famous dessert of them all – pasteis de nata. This delicious, flaky, custard tart is renowned for it’s deliciousness and of course, most children love anything sweet! There are many top spots to try this famous dessert but some of the best are located in Lisbon. Pasteis De Belém on Rua de Belém is the first recommendation or you could head to Fabrica de Nata on Augusta Street. This bakery also has branches in Porto too.

Sometimes, just walking around can be a thrill. It also means that your children are getting plenty of fresh air and enjoying their time. In Porto and Lisbon you’ll find many examples of fantastic and colorful street art. Task your little ones with finding it and you’ll be off on a magical mystery tour all day long! 

Eat in Style at Prado (Lisbon)
There are countless amazing restaurants in Portugal, let alone Lisbon, but if you want to dine with the kids in a spot that’s sleek, trendy, and offers amazing food for all the family, you have to head to Prado in Lisbon. One of the city’s newest restaurants, this spot attracts a varied crowd – families included. They also have a wide-ranging menu, and even sweet potato ice cream! 

Explore Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon 
While you’re trying the delicious food in Lisbon, be sure to spend an afternoon at Jeronimos Monastery. Dating back to the 16th century, this UNESCO listed site is ideal for running off some steam and enjoying history. The courtyard is huge and the perfect spot for exploring. The hall are also wide and echoey. All of this allows you to teach your children something special without them realizing they’re learning! And, if all else fails, they’re sure to enjoy the nearby playground! 

Enjoy The View in Lagos
Along with beach time, be sure to head to Ponta de Piedade in Lagos. This is a lookout point that will give you the perfect photographs but it’s also somewhere the kids will adore. The huge orange rocks will thrill your little ones, along with the crashing waves of the Atlantic. There are boat tours available during the summer months too.
