Top 10 Rolex Predictions 2022

2022 is the year when Rolex will be unleashing its true potential to win over the crowd

1. A Balanced Chain of Demand & Supply

Rolex has struggled to balance its production and supply flow for a very long time. But the Rolex, as a brand, is known for taking the required time to make small yet significant changes to address the larger issues. Hence, we predict that 2022 will see Rolex increasing its production scale to meet the market demand.

2. Rolex Will Discontinue Two Models

Looking closely at the Rolex catalogue, you will see that two collections lack upgrades to the new in-house calibres. They are the Rolex Milgauss and Air King. Even though both are unique in their characteristics, it only makes sense to discontinue the models. The 2022 prediction is that Rolex will take the current two references of both Air King and Milgauss down the shelf due to no significant up-gradation.

3. Launch of a Green Two-Tone Submariner

A fresh new look for the Rolex references is long due, and it’s high time that Rolex steps out of its black & blue phase. For decades, collectors have seen the same two-tone combinations with the Reference 126613LB and 126613LN. We know Rolex does so because the two-tone references make more money, but we predict that Rolex will release a new two-tone Submariner with a green bezel and dial in 2022.

4. Time for the Young Generation

Numerous points make Rolex a classic brand, and one of them is its accountability to specific issues. It has become increasingly difficult to obtain a new Rolex and, most specifically, the popular models from the retailers. Moreover, the high-value clients get more priority over the younger generation. To take a stand against this, Rolex will open up to the younger generation to avoid creating a massive divide in 2022.

5. New Dials for the Datejust Collection

This is perhaps the most intelligent prediction for 2022. Oyster Perpetual, as you know, was one of the most average collections until Rolex decided to throw in some fun dial colours that changed the entire scenario. Now the prices for the Oyster Perpetual watches have skyrocketed! We predict that in 2022 Rolex will introduce some fresh, vibrant dial colours to the Datejust collection, especially some ladies gemstone and two-tone models. Rolex will generate curiosity and demand for the product by throwing in a few diamonds!

6. Rolex GMT Coke to release in 2022

Rolex releasing the Rolex GMT-Master II Coke is on the cards in 2022. Like the older model Pepsi, the Coke is another reference that has generated a long list of admirers even before its launch. Getting hold of a GMT-Master II is equivalent to fetching the moon at this point with long waitlists. And, the release of the Rolex GMT Coke in 2022 would honestly excite the watch fraternity to the extent that people will eagerly wait for 3-4 years to get one.

7. Shortage of Rolex watches on the Floors

As known, Rolex is facing a huge crisis in its production scale due to which more and more Rolex dealers are opting to display demo watches in the showrooms. Imagine visiting a Rolex store to try on your favourite Daytona that you’re sure to never receive in real. Sounds frustrating, right? The dealers have tried this strategy to showcase the popular watches but have upset more customers. Although it is a good step to help customers see the timepieces they want, it won’t do any good in the long run. Moreover, Rolex has not directed the authorised dealers to do so!

8. Bring the ‘RED’ in 2022

Not many will admit, but the watch community as a whole is significantly driven by what Rolex does. This became evident when every other watch brand released a green version of one of their collections last year. After all, who doesn’t know the innate bond Roles shares with the colour green! Our prediction for 2022 is that Rolex is gearing up to release one of their watches in Red, and we believe this will be applicable on the Explorer, Submariner or the Milgauss collection that Rolex will brush in red in 2022.

9. The Rolex Pre-Owned Market Will Shoot

We believe that in 2022, Rolex will limit how many watches a single customer can purchase over a particular period. This will help Rolex serve its client base better if more unique buyers have finite money. In return, the secondary watch market will significantly benefit if this is true! The logic here is simple. The buyers with demand and money will turn to the grey market to buy a Rolex.

Rolex will Increase the prices in 2022

2022 has already begun, and the price of luxury goods, including Rolex, has increased. Rolex always has a plan, and the brand doesn’t let short-term fluctuations steer its course. Rolex had planned the price increase in 2022 years ago, and contrary to popular belief, it has nothing to do with the current economic situation.
