Fresh from today's press, a young group of friends who graduated from our Code Club in 2015 (back when we were still known as HeHe Labs), set themselves up as a tech firm of their own (called Awesomity Lab) at the start of 2016 and have been going from strength to strength ever since.
Recently, the education and skills they gained from our bootcamp, enabled them to be awarded a contract to develop mobility solutions for one of the world's largest auto makers - Volkswagen.
It's no news that Volkswagen runs things. The ueber-multinational owns Audi, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborghini, SEAT, Bugatti & Bentley, among many others. Over the past few years, the group has been creating premium vehicles to position themselves as a high-end vehicle type and to shed their historical budget car status. Landing any contract from these guys, is a major achievement by any standard.
The youth of Awesomity Lab competed against a host of international tech firms that carry a significant level of clout. As God would have it, 4 African youngsters beat a string of renowned Western corporations. And you want to tell me we lack expert knowledge in Africa! (Smh...)
Last year, Volkswagen confirmed plans to invest no less than $20million into a local assembly plant in none other than, that's right, Rwanda. It's safe to say these boys from Awesomity Lab will be getting a part of that and will be re-investing it into their firm to upscale in the near future.
Here at DMM.HeHe, our motto is Do More, Be More.
We challenge you to break the mold and challenge the status quo. This world, wherever you go, is filled with innumerous problems that need to be solved yesterday. As Einstein once said, 'You cannot solve a problem with the same mindset you used to create it.' The DMM.HeHe way is to think out the box, dare to be extra-ordinary and innovate. If there's one thing we're known for - it's innovation.
In small, little Rwanda, based in growing Kigali, we're creating, exploring, empowering and of course, innovating on a daily basis. If we can create guys like Awesomity Labs... think of what we could do with ourselves... we're already doing it!
Stay tuned for great things to come...
And congratulations to the people of Awesomity Lab. One more success story to rebrand and reshape emerging Black Africa!
