These verses come from the deepest part of my heart,

some written at times of great personal emotional anguish

and others for family and friends who were suffering too.

LETTING GO

It’s so hard to let go of
someone you love
You want them with you,
not in heaven above

You want to be able
to tell them you care
And once more the chatter
and laughter to share

It doesn’t seem right,
and it’s not fair you know
You want them still here
but it was their time to go

You want to lash out
but inside you just know
The thing that you need
to do now, is let go

You have to hand over
the one that you love
And let them rest peacefully
now in God’s love

MUM

Beloved Mum, I love you so
And it was hard to let you go
But happy memories ease the pain
Until once more we meet again

I know in Heaven you abide
With many loved ones at your side
And though for a time we are apart
You’re always with me in my heart

******

DAD

Beloved Dad, I love you so
And it was hard to let you go
But happy memories ease the pain
Until once more we meet again

I know in Heaven you abide
With many loved ones at your side
And though for a time we are apart
You’re always with me in my heart
******

MY LOVED ONE (female)

I rejoice for my loved one
Safely in your arms
Free from worldly troubles
Now at peace and calm

I give thanks for my loved one
For the love she gave
Love that you now give her
As her soul You save

I relinquish my loved one
To Your loving care
Evermore to be at peace
in heaven with You there

******

MY LOVED ONE (male)

I rejoice for my loved one
Safely in your arms
Free from worldly troubles
Now at peace and calm

I give thanks for my loved one
For the love he gave
Love that you now give him
As his soul You save

I relinquish my loved one
To Your loving care
Evermore to be at peace
in heaven with You there

IN DEEPEST SYMPATHY

At this sad time
These thoughts
and prayers
Are sent to
show that
someone cares

May God Bless
And comfort you

******

WE WILL MEET AGAIN

Please try to put away your fears
And smile for me and dry your tears
For I am always there with you
Sharing in every thing you do

And when you’re feeling very sad
Think of us two and you’ll be glad
For all the times when I was there
The happiness that we could share

Just speak my name and you will feel
my presence there is very real
And keep me always in your heart
Then we will never be apart

“together for eternity”

This was originally written for our neighbour Terry and his dog Sally

MAN’S BEST FRIEND (female)

You took her in
when she was small
Gave her a home,
your love, your all
A happy life with you
she shared
We all could see
how much you cared

You gave to her
your very best
Now she has gone
to well-earned rest
In spirit she will
stay with you
Your little dog,
for ever true

******

MAN’S BEST FRIEND (male)

You took him in
when he was small
Gave him a home,
your love, your all
A happy life with you
he shared
We all could see
how much you cared

You gave to him
your very best
Now he has gone
to well-earned rest
In spirit he will
stay with you
Your little dog,
for ever true

******

COMFORT

When troubles all surround you
and you feel all alone
Remember in His loving care
your heart still has a home

For though the things that happen
may make you feel so blue
They may be just a little part
of His great plan for you

And through all days of darkness
You know that He is there
To comfort and to light your way
for He will always care

So look towards the future
and face it not with fear,
but with the strength of knowing
that His love is ever near

Written for a lady in a hospice, dying, but happy to meet her God

HIS MESSAGE

Fear not my child, for I love you
I’ll always be by your side
Rest gently my child, I am with you
With me you do not need to hide

All your fears and worries are human
And I understand every one
But your future with me is certain
Because of my love and my Son

Your time on this earth is but fleeting
My dearest child, do you not see
I love you so much that I want you
To live here in heaven with me

And please don’t be sad
for your loved ones
Who now say a tearful goodbye
In what seems an instant they’ll join you
With me in our heavenly sky

******

For a friend, who had to say goodbye

MY DEAREST FRIEND

My dearest friend I’m very sad
That the news you had turned out so bad
It’s hard to know what I can say
But I will pray for you each day

If there is something I can do
Just hold your hand and stay with you
You know how much I really care
Just say the word and I’ll be there

And when I leave you with a kiss
My dearest friend remember this
Though for a while we’ll be apart
You’re here for ever in my heart

Tony was best friends with John for so many years.

MEMORIAL FOR
FRIEND

It’s hard to believe that my best friend has gone
That somehow, without him, life must go on
But when you’ve been friends for 25 years
It’s hard to remember and stifle the tears
We laughed through the good times and shared in the bad
You were the very best friend that I had
Goodbye, dear friend, may God lessen the pain
Until, friends in heaven, we meet once again

MEMORIAL FOR MOTHER

We think about you every day
And miss you more than words can say
Remembering all the love we shared
And all the ways you showed you cared
Our dearest helper, closest friend
Your love sustained us to the end
Our love for you is like no other
Because you were our perfect Mother

This one is for me! Happy to be here, but happy to go!
Some years later I wrote music for this one, so you will find it under "songs" as well.

WHEN I’M GONE

Don’t be unhappy, don’t be sad
I’ll tell you why you should be glad
For Jesus made a solemn vow
And I’m with Him in heaven now

He said “If you believe in Me
Ye shall have life eternally”
He’s always been my faithful friend
From birth to death, from start to end

And now I praise Him all day long
With thankful prayer and joyous song
I ask you to rejoice for me
For God’s dear love has set me free

Please ask Him into your life too
For there’s a place with me for you
Then re-united we shall be
As one, for all eternity

******

For my niece Janet, when she lost a child

MY PRECIOUS CHILD

It broke my heart to lose you
I can’t describe the pain
But I know you’re in heaven now
And we will meet again
With every day that passes
You stay here in my heart
So in a way, my precious child,
We never are apart
You’ll be with me for ever
Until my life is through
Then we will spend eternity
Together, me and you

Our friend Gordon took care of his wife Winnie

for many years through Alzheimers.

NEVER ALONE

It´s very hard to feel lonely
To feel you are on your own
But this you must remember
You are never really alone

The one you love is still with you
The one you miss is still here
She is in your heart for ever
Close your eyes and
you´ll feel her near

She never wanted to leave you
And your heart aches
now she´s gone
But you will be reunited
In Heaven you will be as one

******

THE PAIN OF LOSS

Your loved one´s gone and ended your plans
Their soul now rests in God´s loving hands
Your heart is broken, in tears you cry
With anger, just asking “Why oh Why”
I can´t imagine how you must feel
The pain and anguish that is so real
All I can do now is weep and pray
For God´s sweet comfort for you each day

I wrote this one for my friend Ann - so sad after losing her husband after so very many years
.
ANN and TERRY

Always loving as before
     No more partings ever more
Now his spirit rests with you
Terry´s there in all you do
Each time that you feel the pain
Reach to hold his hand again
Rest in his undying love
Yours to share, here and above
