Taylor Swift ha comenzado 2019 enseñándonos nuevo material. En abril estrenó ME y cambió totalmente el estilo que nos había mostrado en su último disco. Como ya es su costumbre, la cantante ha dado muchas pistas a su seguidores sobre su nuevo material y nos ha mantenido a la espectativa, pero el día de ayer por fin le puso fecha de lanzamiento a su nuevo disco y además ha sorprendido lanzando una nueva canción.
Lover es el nombre de su nueva producción y se estrenará el próximo 23 de agosto. De momento sabemos que el disco contendrá 18 temas escritos todos por ella, entre los que se incluye «ME» en la que hace dueto con Brendon Urie, cantante del grupo Panic! At the Disco

Pero como les comentaba antes, además de sorprendernos con la fecha de lanzamiento Swift estrenó su nuevo sencillo: «You Need To Calm Down« que traducido al español sería como «Necesitas relajarte» en el que una vez más la cantante muestra su apoyo a la comunidad LGBTQ con letras como esta:

But you’re comin’ at my friends like a missile (Pero atacas a mis amigos como si fueras un misil)
Why are you mad when you could be GLAAD? (You could be GLAAD) (¿Por qué estás tan enojado cuando podrías estar Feliz?)

But you would rather be in the dark ages (Pero tú prefieres estár en la era oscura)
Makin’ that sign must’ve taken all night (Hacer ese cartél te tuvo que llevar toda la noche)
En este párrafo Taylor hace referencia primero a GLAAD una organización que se autodefine como «dedicada a promover imágenes veraces y objetivas de la comunidad lésbica, gay, bisexual y transgénero (LGBT) en los medios de comunicación para eliminar la homofobia y la discriminación basada en la identidad de género y orientación sexual». Y a la que la cantante donó dinero para apoyar su campaña Equality Act, además de pedir a sus seguidores que impulsaran la campaña escribiendo cartas a sus senadores.

In excellent recent news, the House has passed the Equality Act, which would protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in their places of work, homes, schools, and other public accommodations. The next step is that the bill will go before the Senate. I’ve decided to kick off Pride Month by writing a letter to one of my senators to explain how strongly I feel that the Equality Act should be passed. I urge you to write to your senators too. While there’s no information yet as to when the Equality Act will go before the Senate for a vote, we do know this: Politicians need votes to stay in office. Votes come from the people. Pressure from massive amounts of people is a major way to push politicians towards positive change. That’s why I’ve created a petition at change.org to urge the Senate to support the Equality Act. Our country’s lack of protection for its own citizens ensures that LGBTQ people must live in fear that their lives could be turned upside down by an employer or landlord who is homophobic or transphobic. The fact that, legally, some people are completely at the mercy of the hatred and bigotry of others is disgusting and unacceptable. Pero no es la única parte de la canción en la que la cantante menciona la comunidad LGBTQ, en la letra también encontramos la siguiente frase:

‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay (porque las críticas nunca hicieron que alguien fuera menos gay)
En fin que podría hablarles mucho sobre la canción, pero es más divertido que la escuchen, así que aquí se las dejo para que la escuchen y se la aprendan para darlo todo en el karaoke lesbicanario.
