So this morning I set out to work on doing some research on what makes for good blogging. I wanted not to make a six figure income but rather create content that would keep Readers coming back and hopefully growing in their relationship with Christ. Well much to my disappointment just about every link or book you can find on blogging is about making money. Now don’t get me wrong I think we could all use a little extra help in the income area. However, I am not doing this blog to become filthy rich. It is merely my attempt at using the gifts the Lord has given me to share the Gospel.
So I have elected to make a promise to you my current readers and future readers. This site johnrpotter.com will never become an Overly Marketed how to save your Soul Bait and click blog. It will instead be a blog centered around the bible, scriptural teaching and God focused discussions. To that end I have elected to just add a donate button on the side and possibly create a “Buy Me” a cup of coffee icon to allow readers to donate to my ministry if they would like. I will not include any affiliate marketing or bait and switch buttons to lure my readers away and into purchasing products.

Since early 2000 I loathed the sites that were drowning in ads and other related items that distracted readers. When I visit a blog I am generally there to read the content that attracted me originally. Not to take place in some multi level marketing scheme. Or worse to pay someone for content I can find freely on the web (This is seriously the purpose of 90% of blogs out there). I understand people are trying to make a living on the web and some do, but at what price I would ask? Many of the people doing it are always looking for that next niche, that next fad, that next big thing.

I am lucky in that regard however. I get to wake up every morning and just talk about the person I love in Jesus Christ and share his Word with my readers. I don’t want to sell you on it. I don’t want you to buy into it. I simply just want to use my training to hopefully help you grow as a Christian and then in return you will hopefully share the content thereby spreading the Gospel. Society has a “Let’s get rich” mindset and I don’t feel this blog needs to add any more to it.
So in closing rest assured that if you are looking for a good Christian blog to read from time to time you have come to the right place. So why don’t you go ahead and sign up at the end of this post and read my articles as they are published. Until next time keep praying and God bless!
